Mail Order...a no no!

Just a warning for anyone that gets drugs through the mail...recently an internet buddy of mine woke up to find several DEA agents and cops standing over his bed one morning. Apparently, they had been tracking a mail order steroid provider, and had my buddy's address under watch. Well, he ordered some gear for personal use and they set up a controlled delivery to his house. They rang the bell and his sister accepted the packages. They rushed in, woke him up, confiscated all his gear, charged him, etc, etc.

They don't just go after dealers apparently...

This is why I just stick to OTC stuff!

I know of at least one site that has been "compromised" recently, and they have I guess a fairly large database and they are going after regular joes.

Don' t have much more info for you about him or his circumstances. I do know he ordered from an internet site. As for a warrant...don't know the situation there, however, he may have just cooperated with them to lesson his charges.

They don't need a warrant. In that case they have the right to go in without it because they know contraband was in there when the sister accepted it! A warrant is only needed when they suspect it may be in there! That is what a sting is...to keep from getting a warrant!

That is my understanding as well, that most of the sting is based on you signing for it or not. They would probably have to have further evidence (than they normally would have) in order to possibly obtain a search warrant.

Since DG is a cop, I am glad he got it right! You need what is known as articulable suspicion in order to search w/o a warrant.

For example, cop pulls you over for speeding, when you open the window marijuana smoke pours out....guess what, he can now search your car.....

Thanks TP! I guess I need to watch what I say around you because you can catch me if I f*#% up! And I certainly don't know everything! People do amaze me though! Just like you said, most people dont understand that if they are only doing 5 miles an hour over the speed limit what trouble they can get into! You are breaking the law and cops like myself use that to our advantage. We are justified in stopping someone and then if we see anything else(drugs, alcohol, weapons, etc.) guess what? We have the right to take you to jail! Now that is only if your doing something illegal! If not most of the time your ok! But why chance it? And there are stops called investigative stops(when something looks out of place-different story.......And of course different states laws are different also. I'm just familiar with NC.

I am actually more familiar with NC too. I interned at the Wake County DAs office, conducted several trials and met many of the officers and troopers. Even did a ride along with a trooper and arrested someone.

I also served as the trooper guinea pig. They liquored a bunch of us up, gave us a breathalyzer and had the cadets test us.....tons of fun!

GP, this sounds EXACTLY like the recent story of the guy ordering fina pellets and kits. If this is the case, this particular story has some serious flaws(holes) in it. First one is that the package was delivered to his sister, not him. How can he get nailed for something HE did not receive? Would this be the case you are talking about?

It could be...he did say to me that his sister accepted the package, but it was ADDRESSED to him. He told me that she actually accepted several packages...some legal, some not.

If it is the same guy, he felt it was the company that supplied the pellets that got him popped by providing credit card records. NOT. How are they going to turn over cc purchase records? lol. More than likely if this did occur as described, it was the kit source that was being watched. Rule of thumb, chances are, they would not do anything will just pellets around, but have the kits to convert in the same location, and that could be baaaad news. lol Sucks to be him though.
