    Tearing & straining muscles

On the past 5 weeks, I pretty severely tore a hamstring. Tonight, I badly strained (feels like a tear) my calf. Does Test contribute to this? WTF?

yes it is the test causing you to injure yourself ... it is increasing the strength of your muscles but the surrounding tendons and ligaments as well as connective tissue in the area takes longer to get stronger .. so just dont go too hard with higher weights when on the gear ... try to ease yourself up with weight and go til muscle exhaustion with reps

I hurt my left trap today. Not too bad but it stung enough to cut my workout short.

Both injuries from softball. I'm 40 and have been an athlete all my life. I played college baseball and had scholarship for football. I played A-Major level softball for a few years and about 20 years overall playing softball. I've never had an injury like this. Basically just sprain ankles, but nothing like this... Maybe I'm just getting too old.

What sucks is..,. I've been working to cut weight to take the load off of sore joints. Now that my knees/ankles are feeling better, I do this shit.

Thanks Sully, but these aren't training injuries.

I do calves maybe 1 time a week and they always feel strained the day after which lasts for about 2 or 3 days. Enough to give me a limp. i think it is mainly due to the fact that I rarely train calves and when I do I go all out. It hurt more up high on the calf. So maybe this is your problem ( rarely training and going to extremes when you do)

maybe more emphasis on stretching will help keep this things from happening again

I train 4-5 days on 2-3 days off. Every week. This isn't a training issue.

    It might be.

That's a lot to be honest with you. I once hired a guy to do my training and diet and he pointed out that any more than 4 days a week of RT is overkill. He laid this out for me, maybe it can help you.

I like four days a week as well. Sometimes I'll switch it up and go only three. A lot of folks train too many days, IMHO. Gotta let the body recover.

Yeah, when I maintain I go 3 days a week and only do a couple of sets per body part. Mind you this only lasts but 8 weeks.

    You're dead on though.

I always thought that 3 day shit was for people not on AAS. I recover in 2 days max. I go 5-6 days a week

Glad to hear it. I'm getting set to switch over to three days as soon as I finish my PCT and stabilize a bit. I'll probably stay there for a couple of months, too, then run another clean bulk at four days per. Thanks as always for your feedback.

I think that's how it goes. You injure more frequently but heal faster.

stretching before exercise does not prevent injury it's one of those old myths that just won't die..stretch after exercise when the muscles, tendons and ligaments are warm and pliable.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

    ??

    you don't warm-up and stretch before a workout ?

i agree about after but I don't think stretching before lifting/running is a myth.

Lol... I can touch my toes ok. I just need more. Most of my inflexibilty seems to be in the shoulders and back. There's ZERO chance I could pin myself in the glutes. If me and the ol lady split, I'd have to start pinnin quads. Or find a new chick to pin my ass or sum10.

I usually take one day off M-F and never train on weekends. Because of my schedule, I focus on only 1-2 muscle groups per session. For example, my Bi's seem to have fallen behind my Tri's & Delts, so I'm grainy Bi's alone on Fridays now. I'm only in there for 30 mins or so.
