Government orders 48-hour stop after discovery of mail bombs
UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: Greek authorities said Wednesday that recent bombing are not connected to al-Qaeda or international terrorism, but are instead the work or domestic terrorists.
11:00 a.m.: Greek authorities ordered a 48-hour stop on all mail heading overseas Wednesday after a series of mail bombs were sent from the capital city.
According to reports, The Public Order Ministry is stopping the mail after authorities discovered a suspicious package, addressed to Italy’s Premier Silvio Berlusconi, on a private mail courier company plane that left Athens for Paris and Liege Tuesday.
The plane landed at Italy’s Bologna airport, causing flight delays for hours as the plane was searched.
By The Numbers: European Airlines' Freight Traffic.
The Ministry says the stoppage will allow authorities to carefully search for more possible mail bombs.
A mail bomb was sent from Athens to Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel at the chancellery in Berlin Tuesday. The package, once discovered, was destroyed.
Mail bombs were also sent to French President Nicolas Sarkozy and eight foreign embassies in Athens. Two of those packages were discovered in the cargo holding area of the Athens airport.
Three of those packages caught on fire and the others were destroyed or defused. One person, a delivery employee, was slightly injured when handling a package sent to the Mexican embassy in Athens.
Greek police arrested two suspects Tuesday and released the pictures of five other wanted suspects. According to reports, the two men in custody, who are in their 20s, are connected to local militant groups.
Prince, Thanks for the official new article concerning the mail bombs. But, the U.S. Postal Service sent out a notice to all it's Postmasters to hold all small parcels and roll from Greece for inspection by the Postal Inspectors. Postal Inspectors are authorized to open any and all packages. Those who are experienced know that certain items go through Greece on the way to the U.S. and I just want to warn those who ship and receive through Greece.
^^^and those who are experienced know that when posting accusations on a forum like that they need documentation or they quickly become looked at as spam.

ATHENS, Greece – Greece stopped all outgoing airmail packages and screened thousands of boxes Wednesday in an attempt to stop a spate of bombings blamed on domestic militants targeting diplomatic missions and European leaders.
I don't see anything about US maill inspectors. But that they are scanning them in greece, not the U.S.
yup, so a guy with 10 posts in 2 months comes on here and posts something that can't be backed up? gonna have to call BS on it.
Well he did post a real story, it just looks like he twisted the story a little bit. I read a few reports on it and I don't see any U.S. involvement at all. So yeah, looks BS to me.
Well fine, don't freakin' believe me, but when your gear that you normally get from Greece shows up from a letter carrier that you don't normally see and he asks for a signature, be sure to take some lube with you when the undercover Postal Inspectors arrest you. The information I posted was from an internal message within the Postal Service.
You know, a guy tries to help his bros out and they cry BS. Hey, enjoy your stay in the Federal Penitentiary!
