Bodybuilders charged with importing drugs
Two Gold Coast amateur bodybuilding champions have been granted bail after allegedly trying to import drugs from Thailand.
Candice Lee Ida Blackburn, 29, of Labrador, and Richard Patrick Brennan, 36, of Surfers Paradise, were arrested at Brisbane International Airport on Saturday evening after Customs officers allegedly found 8000 methylamphetamine tablets hidden in their luggage.
The tablets were allegedly stored in vitamin containers.
The pair faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday and were released on bail on the condition they surrender their passports and report to police.
Brennan and Blackburn both earned top places in the national amateur bodybuilding titles last year.
Their case will be mentioned again in December.
