Firstly, thanks to all of the active senior members for being willing to share your experience and information!
My question deals with something that probably 99.9% of the folks on this forum never deal with but I hope someone out there has.
I'm wondering which anabolic compound or combination of compounds is best for accelerating healing of cutaneous wounds.
Background:
Due wearing a prosthetic I've been nursing a dime-sized lesion for the past three years. In working with my prosthetist we've lessened the aggravation of it but the darned thing still refuses to heal. I have no other medical condition that would prevent normal healing. It's just that constant abrasion is the enemy. My doc's solution is to stay off my feet and off work until it heals and if I do that enough times it will heal/breakdown and toughen up and be okay. I've done that several times over the last couple of years and at this rate it will be 2015 before it's close to being done.
Taking off from work for three weeks at a time just isn't an option any more because I lose so much in missed pay.
I've read elsewhere that oxyandrolone has been administered for just such problems because at low doses it's easier on the liver than many other steroid compounds. My doc is dead-set against it because he believes in only using non-steroidal remedies even though my system can handle it. I live in the middle of nowhere and my insurance limits my choice of physicians so I'm basically stuck with this guy.
I was thinking of trying a low dose of oxy (10mg ED) for about six weeks to accelerate the process and get this thing closed up. Using anabolics may sound extreme for something like this but I'm at wit's end.
Has anyone had any experience with or know of someone who has used anabolics for this kind of problem?
