the pin doesn't seem dull to me after the draw..so I'm ok as long as i don't have pain right? i know its a newbie question..i'm a newbie to self pinning.

    thanks.

Are you drawing from an amp or vile? I use the same gauge pin to draw and pin but I do change it and it is recommended that you do. I only use the same gauge pin to draw as I pin bc that's all I have otherwise i would probably use a 20 gauge to draw and 23 or 25 to pin.

I've never seen a pin that doesn't detach. Try getting new ones maybe from cheappinz. If you're using a vial then you def want to change the pin. Pushing thru the rubber stopper dulls the tip of the pin. I read a study somewhere about how much of a difference it makes. Pins aren't expensive. You can buy 50 and get an extra 50 tips. Probably won't costs anymore than $50 total but prob less. Get some 18 or 20 gauge tips to draw and some 23 or 25 gauge 1 to 1.5" pins to inject with.

coming from my girlfriend who is a nurse, its not necessary to change pins, but at the hospital they always do, she says like a few others, make sure you swab the top of the vial, and the pin itself before injecting and drawing, you dont want to contaminate your gear, with a dirty pin, just a recommendation

Wipe down a sterile pin? That doesn't make sense.

    Those are insulin pins.

Good for injecting into chest delts and sometimes thigh.

Your new ones will be more painful depending on the size.

You can always use the slin pins if you backload them.

healthwarehouse.com sells pins, with and w/out syringes, many different gauges and pin length. they will only ship to certain states w/out requiring an actual prescription. A box of 100 22 gauge, 1" pins with syringes is $23.00.
