2 years ago I got scammed by a site called domestic gear for $200. I paid through Alert Pay and they would do nothing to help me get my money back. It's not much better than paying with western union.

i was just curious. i just called them and the chick i talked to said that once a dispute ticket is filed, the vendor has 5 days to respond. if they don't respond with their side of the story, alertpay rules for the customer and refunds their money.

i don't know how accurate this is, but that's what they told me about 30 min. ago. they are e-mailing me the instructions.

I think you guys trying to get your money back, especially the guy trying to get it back via his credit card company (Why the fuck are you using a credit card anyway?) are just screwing yourselves and pinning a target on your back.

A friend of mine said if it out of the country, that chances are they'll do nothing, and you're likely to get a package with toe nails or finger nails in it.

I wish you all luck and hope you get your funds back. This is indeed truly bad form all the way around; thus, the company for the payment of the businesses they've got listed on their site for acceptance of payment.

You're not hurting the person that scammed you, you're hurting WU or MG or whoever you used to send the funds. The person already picked them up. Thats the game you play when you order illegal substances. Use sponsors, research before you buy. It isn't that hard. If you lose money then oh well, make some more. I'd much rather spend my time making more money than sitting in jail because I wanted a paper trail so I could get my money back.

why would that be a problem? alertpay is a totally legal company (like paypal). you don't have to tell your CC company what you ordered. if your CC company asks you, it's supplements. if your CC company asks alertpay, i doubt they would admit to being a go-between for people to buy illegal shit.

i get what your saying. to each his own. to me, it seems more likely that i will get scammed then i will end up in jail. im not buying massive quantities.

and whether you use cash or CC, WU will have your info, as well as the company if they get busted. using a CC does add one more paper trail, but if it gets to the point where feds are investigating my CC, i must already be busted.

That's what all these poor saps did before they lost money from you know who. I feel for them. If I waited a bit to place an order it would have been me losing money.

That's assuming genxxl doesn't come back and that they're gone. Both of which I doubt.

To the argument that you'll just tell the CC company they're "supplements." What legal supplement company doesn't accept credit cards and insists you pay via WU or MG. Just sayin.

they don't insist on paying with WU or MG. they allow alertpay. alertpay is a company like paypal. they offer credit cards, debit cards & assorted other business services, one of which is setting up an online account that you can use to make purchases from multi national companies instead of giving out your CC number.

For those that are worried about being "busted" read what I posted in a previous thread. If you are close to the FDA guide lines stop stressing. You purchased a substance that is used for medical purposes. Is your CC company or Alert Pay going to ask for your medical records?????…………. No.
Maybe you went to a foreign country and you are continuing the medication you were prescribed………. and so on…..

FDA STATEMENT REGARDING THE IMPORTATION OF FOREIGN DRUGS FOR PERSONAL USE
In general, the FDA permits its field offices to use discretion in allowing entry of small, "personal use" quantities (generally not more than a three-month supply) of foreign drugs not approved in the United States. This applies in cases in which satisfactory treatment for the condition is not available in this country, the drugs pose no unreasonable safety risk, and their use is not promoted in the United States.
The most accurate statement of the law pertaining to the Importation of Foreign Drugs for Personal Use and the FDA policy regarding field agent discretionary enforcement (or non-enforcement), entitled "Information on Importation of Drugs Prepared by the Division of Import Operations and Policy, FDA", was drafted by a representative of the FDA in 1998 and is reproduced here in its entirety. This statement still represents the FDA's position on this issue, and most questions regarding the Importation Policy for Personal Use are answered by reading and studying this statement.

    Read this as well:

    FDA Policy Statement

"The United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) (21 U.S.C. section 331) prohibits the interstate shipment (which includes importation) of unapproved new drugs. Thus, the importation of drugs that lack FDA approval, whether for personal use or otherwise, violates the Act. Unapproved new drugs are any drugs, including foreign-made versions of U.S. approved drugs, that have not been manufactured in accordance with and pursuant to an FDA approval. Under the Act, FDA may refuse admission to any drug that "appears" to be unapproved, placing the burden on the importer to prove that the drug sought to be imported is in fact approved by FDA. Absent evidence that the specific drugs sought to be imported from a foreign country have been manufactured pursuant to an approved new drug application, in the manufacturing facility permitted under the application, such drugs would appear to be unapproved new drugs subject to FDA enforcement action.
"The use of FDA resources to provide comprehensive coverage of unapproved new drugs imported for personal use is generally not justified, however, the agency developed guidance in its Regulation Procedures Manual (RPM) entitled "Coverage of Personal Importations". This guidance sets forth the agency's enforcement priorities related to the personal importation of unapproved new drugs, with enforcement being focused on products apparently intended for the commercial market and on fraudulent products and those that pose an unreasonable health risk. The guidance recognizes that circumstances may exist where, for example, a person has begun treatment with an unapproved drug in a foreign country or suffers from a condition for which there exists no FDA approved treatment. If such circumstances can be substantiated, as the text of the guidance quoted below notes, the guidance suggests that refraining from taking action against the illegal importation , in the exercise of enforcement discretion, may be appropriate. The guidance document is not, however, a license for individuals to import unapproved (and therefore illegal) drugs for personal use into the U.S., and even if all the factors noted in the guidance are present, the drugs remain illegal and FDA may decide that such drugs should be refused entry or seized. Similarly, the factors noted in the guidance, and documentation that should be obtained from individuals importing the drugs, are not mandatory requirements. They are intended to guide FDA enforcement discretion and should not be represented as binding requirements. The statements in the RPM are intended only to provide operating guidance for FDA personnel and are not intended to create or confer any rights, privileges, or benefits on or for any private person.

You probably won't get your money back from Alert Pay. Even getting anything back from your CC is a major headache. If LE is investigating your CC, claim identity theft.

ur supposed to email seller first to see if they can resolve the problem. i tried that and got this response

"Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out."

then u fill out a ticket at alertpay with refrence # for transaction, seller email, seller website then fill out a box where u describe problem. i said purchased goods, never recieved. website down etc..

now i wait and see if i get money back. theres a scary paragraph in the FAQ

"If your claim is justified, AlertPay will attempt to collect funds from the Seller. Funds recovery is not guaranteed. There may not be sufficient funds in the Seller's account to cover your claim. If we are not successful in recovering funds, you have no claim against us."

    and this

"AlertPay members may only submit one dispute per transaction. Submitting multiple disputes for a single issue may result in the closure of the dispute without resolution."

so wow, not guaranteed to get money back and dont ask twice or they close it out for good without even checking.

I would call my CC, and tell them what you purchased was on ebay, and the auction was pulled and you can't access it and the guy won't respond. Say you were buying supplements. It will work, CC will take the money from alertpay and say "Fuck You!"

Problem with going through alertpay is if the seller doesn't have funds, they say SOL. Where-as when you call your CC, they will take the money from alertpay and stick the bill to alertpay.

But I wouldn't know anything about this

according to alertpay's "useage agreement", you have to give them a chance to resolve the issue 1st. if you go straight to your CC company, alertpay is going to use that clause, that you agreed to, to not refund your money.

i think you need to go through alertpay's process. if it works, great. if not, THEN go to your CC company. you will be able to show that you followed their rules, but they havn't resolved shit. at that point, your dispute is with alertpay instead of genX.

Policy doesn't matter. When a CC steps in, rules are bent and broken. Trust me i've had issues with alertpay and went straight to my CC because I didn't want to waste valueable time. But to each their own, it was just a suggestion.

If a CC wants the money back, they will take it. It's just how shit works. Chargebacks are very hard to fight unless you have prove, and even then you can be screwed. Who do you think the CC cares more about? Their customer whos been with them for years, or one company? Shouldn't be hard to figure out.

well then maybe it differs from CC co. to CC co. a dude at my bank is the one that told me that. he said they wouldn't do anything until the company had an opprotunity to rectify the problem, particularly if you are in violation of their terms of use agreement. you agreed to give them the opprotunity to handle disputes when you created your account.

A bank card (debit card/check card) is in a whole different field then a credit card company.

it is a credit card. i applied and got it through my bank "chase". i know the branch manager really well, so i called him 1st.

i'm not gonna argue with you about it. i'm just sharing what i was told. anyway, why would you not want to give alertpay a chance to fix their problem 1st? what could it hurt? they have 5 days to fix it, then supposedly they side with you.

True. Credit Card companies are like vultures. They want your business and most of the time they will do anything to keep it. I have done charge-backs before and it is the easiest process in the world. All I had to do, was say the company never delivered my product as agreed and the company will not respond to my inquires. It took less than a minute. If you are in good standing with your CC company they will treat you right. If they give you any problems, tell them you want to close your account and you will be taking your business to a different CC company. For example, you can choose one of the hundred CC companies that delivers you pre-approved letters in the mail. Have you ever closed an account with a CC company before? It’s a pain in the ass because they don’t want to lose your business.
