I am a 43 yr old guy that just got back into mx last year. I am having trouble with hand pain and forearm pump. I have done some research on the net (because I dont have insurance right now) but I do know that osteoarthritis runs in the family. However, the symptoms sound like carpal tunnel. I was working on my daughters bike (just hand tightening some nuts and bolts) and felt burning in the fleshy area of the thumb and then the top 2 fingers. The research I've done says that is a sign of carpal tunnel. I just started using a computer a few years ago, but I have been running chainsaws, carrying drywall, lumber, swinging a 12 lb splitting maul and on and on since I was 11 yrs old and I continue to work in the construction industry to this day. On top of this I used to race bikes as a kid and I used to weight-train very heavy. Now that I am getting older my body is starting to break down and I am wondering if deca or one of the others is worth trying. I have done a couple cycles of test c, which has helped in other areas, but I am considering stacking deca or something else that may help with the hand pain. If it was just regular pain I wouldn't bother, but it is severe pain. I'm no pussy. I can push myself through almost anything, but its getting to a point where I cant even hold onto the bike after about 4-5 minutes. If anyone has advice on this, including NSAID info, I would appreciate it. I've never really taken ibuprofin or aleve but I've heard that it can also help with arthritis pain and inflammation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Yeah, I'm working on getting insurance but its so damned expensive. And if I tell them that I race mx, I wont get covered...plus I have had a lot of injuries in the past and pre-existing conditions. I can only imagine what my rates would be. I'm self employed and 5 years ago I could have afforded the coverage but now that no one is building, I cant. I'm considering accupuncture and a couple other crazy things...who knows. GETTING OLD BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man that's why I quit racing MX. I saw too many of my friends land on their heads and end up in the hosptial. I switched to XC and I liked that for a while but I finally got out of all of it. I'd say it's one, if not the top sport that's hardest on your body.
Until you've raced a 2hr harescramble, you don't know the definition of tired.
Yeah, J, My first race as a kid was a 2 hr hare scramble. It didnt bother me as a kid cuz I loved riding so much that 2 hrs was normal for me. But now it would kill me. I started doing sust and took a break now Im doing test c because a lot of guys my age are going to doctors for hormone replacement and getting some form of test or another. So I figure why not. I do feel better all around except with the arm pump/cramping whatever the hell it is. My buddy who I get my gear from does the hgh and swears by it. Its just so damned expensive to do a full cycle. He says he does like 3 months. I dunno much about it. Im new to all of this. All I do know is that getting old sucks and it helps me go to work all day and deal with everything after and still have energy to stab my girl. I'm not really looking to get big, but it is a nice side effect. I'm really just looking to feel better and heal faster from training. I have heard good things about the hgh though, If it helps with tendon shit or whatever I may have to give it a spin. My bud has a broken blood vessel on his face that goes away everytime he does a cycle of hgh, so it must have something good going on. I dunno...Anyone that knows about it feel free to chime in. Thanks.

This may sound stupid and too simple....
Wear wrist wraps all the time at work and while riding. Also take 2 Ibuprofen twice a day. This will bring the swelling down. Some times joints get inflamed because they are swollen. They swell because they swell? Ice once or twice a day. So for the next 4 weeks take ibuprophen and ice, but wear wrist wraps the rest of your life.
You could always start with a cortisone shot. Then wrap.
I was considering the ibuprofin, but I never thought about the wrist wraps. I'm willing to give anything a try at this point. I've heard that the ibuprofin works if you give it time and stay vigilant. I've got to do something. After 25+ yrs off, I'm just now getting back into moto-x and I will get my #1 plate this year if I stay out of the hospital. I was winning by my third race last year, but I had missed too many races early, then dislocated the shoulder and tore the tricep from the deltoid. Thats how I first got introduced to the anabolics. It wouldnt heal and my bud told me about deca and test. I was racing in 2 weeks after 5 weeks off with no improvement. Thats when I realized that this shit really does work. Question, the wrist wraps...how do I wrap them etc. Am I just looking to apply pressure or what? I'm sure I can look online, but I've found some good advice on here in the past with guys who have actual real-life experience. Any other advice is welcomed as well. Thanks for all the advice so far.
