I never wanted to go down that road, but if I ever thought of competing I probably would. For my everyday bodybuilding goals, the risks out weight the rewards for me. I would definitely advise you to have someone very knowledgeable show you the ropes, because there is a lot of misinformation out there about proper slin use. Good luck if you decide to take the plunge.
Years ago i tried slin and GH together. I pinned after a workout and had a carb drink, then headed home for a carb meal. While driving I went hypo and just made it home where i crawled to the fridge and downed my roommates liter of Coke. I'm not exactly sure why it happened (obviously something I did wrong) but it scared the shit out of me. If my roommate didn't chug Coke everyday I would've been dead. I never tried it again.

I know you are supposed to take in at least 15 grams of carbs per iu. But that is about it. I never really got into slin too much. I know I couldn't use it because I deal with Hypoglycemia on a daily basis without taking any slin. My body produces extra slin when I eat carb dense meals. If I eat a big breakfast, 20 -30 mins after I eat my Blood Glucose will be at 50-60 and I will have to eat again. It is a curse but I think it helps build muscle. Endocrinologist ran tests and said I was fine. So I deal with it just carry peanut butter crackers for emergencies. If you take slin make sure you buy some glucose tabs just in case you BG drops and you need to boost it quick.

Taking it after your workout you have to be careful because your body's insulin is already high from your workout. When you train you body converts muscle stored glycogen into glucose in the liver to provide the energy to train. This makes your body to produce slin to keep your blood Glucose from getting to high. If you check your blood Glucose after you train it will be high but after training if you wait 30 hour you glucose will drop because the insulin is still working but your body is not producing glucose in the liver. This is why you are usually hungry after training.

As a type 1 diabetic who injects fast acting insulin upto 8 times a day, the general rule of thumb is 1 iu = 10 grams of carbs, invest in getting a blood glucose monitor, can get them cheap on ebay. Read up on warning signs of Hypoglycemia. Youre gonna need to know how to spot the signs early, confusion, irritable, tiredness, short temper, poor concentration, slower speech, deeper breathing, feeling weak, heart palpitations.
First, yes it is awesome and it's something that can help along the way that being said, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING DON'T USE IT, YOU CAN DIE (this isn't directed to you, you're smart enough to know this, but there are too many people that will read this and say "cool, I'll try it" just with one post from a MOD, which by the way doesn't mean sh*t).
That being said, you have to really play with the carbs, everyone is different. Some can get away with 6-7g of carbs per iu of insulin and others need 10-12g. ALWAYS use it IM as it hits faster and clears faster. ALWAYS use humalog, humulin-r is too unpredictable in peaks twice. The faster acting the better.
Too many carbs and you'll get fat, too little and you'll go hypo or die. GH will help as it makes the body even more sensitive to insulin. The recovery is amazing and the pumps last throughout the day. It's a fun ride for 4-5 weeks at a time but once you open a vial it's good for 30 days after that it looses potency and starts going bad.
Here's a protocol which worked well and was done by VictorZ06:
-TRAIN
-Immediately after training, 80mcgs IGF-1LR3, 10-15ius GH.
-20 MINS LATER - 20mcgs IGF1-LR3
-10 MINS LATER - 7-8ius humalog with the following:
80g dextrose, 25g hydro whey, 10g lecuine, 10g BCAA'S, 10g glutamine peptides, 5g creatine.
One hour after shake: 80g complex carbs (old fashioned oats, eziekiel cereal, rice cakes, sweet potato with 50g whey or 8oz. chicken)
Top pros don't go above 8-10ius so there is no need for anyone else who is not going pro to as well.
NEVER CONSUME ANY FATS UNTIL THE INSULIN HAS CLEARED THE SYSTEM, EVER. Fats will be deposited as........body fat, which we don't want.
Insulin can also be used for carb up days while dieting, glycogen will be replenished quicker (in my opinion, though others will say different) than just a normal carb up.
Anything else I can add for you?

Awesome post CT. This is a very serious subject like you said. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone to try. Unless you are very knowledged and aware of what could happen like I am sure the Captn' is. In most cases there are better ways to try to get to the next level. I know myself that I will never try slin based on the experiences I have had with Hypoglycemia. It can be very scary. You get confused, disoriented, and your body slowly shuts down when your brain doesn't have enough glucose to function properly. Very scary feeling. One mistake and you could be unconscious quickly and if no one is there to help you it can kill you.
I will never use insulin but Metformin (spl) seems like a safer option with some of the same benefits.
I love the swollen feeling after a good lift. It would be awesome having that pump for long periods of time.
stop being a weakling. Maybe you will actually break 200. You ain't fewling me with those 240lb claims.

Didn't realize it was so dangerous. Just read up on it and it seems like some pretty insane stuff if you don't need it.
Don't mean to thread jack but is hypoglycemia (or can be a sign) if you feel weak, sweating and light headed? I've had that happen and I feel the need to eat a ton of sugar. Doesn't happen often but it is scary.

Slin scares the piss out of me. No thanks.
With that said, there's some GREAT information in here.
