    Taking Anabolic Steroids | LIVESTRONG.COM

Has anyone read this, this is why so many people are scared and uniformed about AAS, if people had half a brain and did some actual research instead of listening to this media propaganda nonsense AAS wouldnt have such a bad rep.

5 Things You Need to Know About Taking Anabolic Steroids

    1. What are Anabolic Steroids?

Anabolic steroids are muscle building chemicals that occur naturally in the body. Anabolic steroids are responsible for producing testosterone. Anabolic-androgenic steroids are man-made steroids that mimic the naturally occurring anabolic steroids in some ways. Anabolic steroids are illegal unless your doctor gives you a prescription for them. You can use these steroids safely under strict supervision to treat certain medical conditions such as body wasting in an AIDS patient. Some of the anabolic steroids today are dianabol, anadrol and oxandrin.

    2. Use of Street Steroids

Steroids, sometimes called juice or roids on the street, come in a pill form or injection, normally to increase muscle mass. Athletes, such as body builders, sometimes use two or more steroids at one time to try to produce faster results, called stacking. Another method of taking steroids is to pyramid. This means that over a period of six to 12 weeks, the user gradually increases and then gradually decreases the amount of steroids used. In both of these cases, the user will normally use at least 10 times the safe amount of steroids.

    3. Side Effects of Steroids

Taking anabolic steroids without a doctor's supervision causes unpleasant side effects. Liver damage, AIDS, jaundice, fluid retention and high blood pressure are some of the serious side effects of steroid use. In addition, both men and women can develop severe acne that may affect the entire body. Men may grow breasts, become infertile, experience hair loss or testicle shrinking and become at increased risk for prostate cancer. Women may stop menstruating, grow facial hair and have a deeper male like voice. Children and teens risk stunted growth.

    4. Signs of Steroid Use

A steroid user may wear long sleeves to cover track marks, or needle marks on his arms. He may be very moody or aggressive. Extremely fast muscle growth and a lot of pimples or acne are also signs of steroid use. In some cases, the user may seem to have a very large ego one minute and then be depressed the next. This is manic behavior. Anyone who is taking anabolic steroids without a doctor's supervision should get help as soon as possible to avoid future health problems caused by the hormonal changes that occur with steroid use.

    5. Alternatives to Steroids

There are many alternatives to steroid use when you are trying to build muscle mass. Eating a high protein and carbohydrate diet will help. Slowly increasing the amount of weight and number of repetitions of your exercise routine will help you to overcome a muscle building plateau. You should also add some cardiovascular exercises such as running to your routine to help you overcome a plateau. Changing your exercise routine is another option. If none of these seem to work, hire a personal trainer who can help you to make a routine that is tailored to your specific needs.

This is obviously part of the conspiracy to keep the middle and lower class fat and sedentary. Wake up people.

This is the kind of crap our politicians hear (and most likely believe)...no wonder we're walking around with a bulleye on our chests. As someone stated above it reminds me of the old Reefer Madness non-sense. Track marks, Aids...? The author of that article needs a good "smackdown".
