toss it

Just got done with my Research and had to bake it in the oven as instructed @ 250F. I was supplied with an 18g needle to use for venting. Once it was finished baking I removed the needle and I could see that it had an opening about the size of the needle. The hole was mostly closed but when I turned it upside down, little bubbles were coming up through the oil. None of the oil was coming through.
Was this caused by me removing the needle before it was completely cooled off and then that created a vacuum within the vial itself and now it is just equalizing the pressure?? Should I be concerned about the sterility of my research project? I know we are suppose to shoot air from the syringe directly into the vial in order to create the pressure.
Has anyone experienced this and if so, what should I do about it? Bake it again?

Remember that you have to eventually put this into your body.
If you have to ask the question, then its prolly not safe.

Personally I think it will be fine as long as everything else was done to sterilize it. You're not really going to get an infection that easily from gear as most would have you believe on here it seems. When you put BA into it, it kills bacteria which has a hard enoug time growing in oil anyway. And will keep it sterile. IMO I would just clean the rubber top off when you inject, which you should do anyway. When you draw from any 10ml vial you are making holes in the rubber unless you are drawing with a 25g which I'm not sitting around for an hour waiting for it to draw up

Yeah, until you get an infection. This guy ^^^^ isnt the one thats gotta pin the gears.
Its you. Use good judgement.

meh in my research I have tossed a few batches. If it is not sealed it is not sterile. I just put it into the lessons learned area of my head and cut my losses. The cost of getting an abcess treated (not counting the pain and lost wages, time off from the gym, etc.) is well above just making another batch. (even if the % chance of that happening is small. It just isnt worth it)
Most infections stem from using dirty needles or water based injects which have a higher chance of growing bacteria. I was just giving my opinion, it is ultimately up to the op, but he should have more than one view other than just " get rid of it". He would have a higher chance of getting an infection from using too much ba in it than just having a hole in it from the needle. Do u toss out half of ur gear just from putting holes in the rubber stopper bc it's essentially the same thing. Op do whatever u want. This is only my opinion and I've had quite a but of experience with homebrew, however I'm not a doctor so take it for what it's worth.
I dont think any risk like that is worth messing with. Toss it

Wow toss it that easily?? The stuff came out beautiful and crystal clear. Everything was wiped down with 99% alcohol including the top of the stoppers each time I had to touch the bottle. Was hoping to hear I can just re-filter it and put into another vial and bake again. That sucks!!![]()
