Misconceptions of AAS use - personal story

The misconceptions of AAS use really run deep. I’m 42 and began a TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) regimen Dec 2010 as prescribed by my doctor for my low test-levels. Well, the dosage began really conservative with one 200mg test cypionate shot every three weeks, and my wife was doing the pinning – cool! But a funny thing happened to her attitude once I started.

Every time I got a little angry she blamed the test. Every time I wanted sex, it was the test. Every time I wanted to work out, it was the test making me obsessed. I got a pimple – test again! She perceived everything I did as influenced by the TRT. And this was at a dose way less than maintenance level that a normal, natural male would have. I explained that to her and that the low dose was probably making me irritable at the least (it did make me feel like shit). A couple months into it she wanted me to stop – so I did…at least that’s what I told her.

I went through a clinic to bump my dose to a normal TRT level of 200mg/wk. Wow what a difference. I took it in secret the past couple months, every week. Things have been great. I’ve been in a great mood, more helpful around the house and more laid back to the wife’s honey-do lists, and paying more attention to her. Last week in the throes of passion she asked if I was secretly bumping the test. I replied “yep”! Haha she was wondering why I wanted to bang her all the time again. She wasn’t pissed, just a little cross I lied to her. But I asked her how would she feel if I told her to stop taking her thyroid medicine the doc prescribed that she needed? At first she was a little resistant saying it wasn’t the same but I explained that they are both hormones; both regulate functions we need and at the proper dose make us feel better. We were all good after that and now she is on board with what I’m doing. She sure did notice I’m a much better guy now and our family is benefitting well from it!

Thanks guys. Funny thing is that when I met my wife back in the early 90's I was a big juicehead, and she didn't mind when I used to boot in front of her! No complaints then of roid rages or what-not. I think it was offset by her desire to have all that bristling muscle sandwiched up against her LOL!

When testosterone is kept in reasonable ranges it just plain makes me feel better. It improves my mood, energy and libido.

This isn't how I took it. I thought that he kind of proved that you can rationalize with some women and make them understand that a normal test level is needed to live a better life. I really liked the reference to thyroid meds. It is true when your test is low you feel LOW. Being in proper range can make a world of difference and every man deserves to be there IMO. Thanks for sharing and Great post.

Thanks TGB1987. It really hit home when I brought up her thyroid replacement. We were married for less than 2 years when her thyroid shut down. She was a raving lunatic; it doesn't only affect your metabolic rate but also has a serious psychological impact. Craziest mood swings ever - she would be crying & hitting me one sec and the next insanely laughing, all for no reason. We got her all stabilized but it was a turbulent couple years.

We'll see what happens when I blast some Tren this coming summer...THAT will remain a secret LOL!

I fear the next time he has an argument, zit, horny, or urge to workout she will once again blame the gear.

ALthought he probably hit home with the thyroid issue.

If my wife was smart she'd know I was on gear just because I REFUSE to argue, raise my voice, or bicker in any-way-shape-or form. If she knew I was geared up It would be the cause of EVERYTHING in her mind for sure.

At least there was a valid reason she was behaving like a raving lunatic. Many girls have no excuse other than they're just wired in such a way, lol. I lucked out with my wife. I'm more comfortable with her knowing b/c I can't imagine sneaking around to pin and hiding gear and being secretive etc etc. Eff that. Just be frank with a wife. Girlfriends are different stories. But a good wife will accept her husband using gear if the philosophy behind the gear usage is packaged and delivered in such a way that she will be receptive to it. And it helps to treat her nice without stupid roid rage crap etc. Maybe it's the fact that I have a traditional-minded type of wife who is from another country. But she will mention gear if I swear at another driver on the road or get mad when I can't open a package/wrapper of something. haha.
The ex-wife, on the contrary, was a crazy American girl with piss/vinegar and psychotic tendencies running through her veins. She would've definately been disqualified from knowing anything about gear. Eff her. Maybe somebody tied chains to her and threw her overboard into the Marianna Trench by now.

ref also menstrual cycle & PMS...

When your basic hormomes are off, all sorts of mood shit can happen. This is why I think it is horrid that so many doctors will throw anti-depressants at you all day long but won't stop and take a look at your hormone profile. But by the same token, its important to understand the impact of any change in your hormone profile (i.e. if you choose to self-medicate) - so many people don't realize what pricks they turn into on certain compounds (e.g. tren) or that certain other compounds (e.g EQ) make them completely depressed.

Hmm, what is her name, I think I dated her!? har har...

Nice that you have something to compare with, my dad is on TRT and it improved several things for him. Its too bad some people buy into the hype or have seen one too many bad movies. Menopause for men is no fun, and thats why we have TRT!
