    Permanent Injury

I'm completely unknowledgeable about this sort of thing, so be merciful. I've got a friend that wasn't himself and feels that steroids have permanently lowered his testosterone. (I think he said T-Bol or something like that...)

Can you really permanently lower your testosterone through a "reaction" to steroids?

If so, how do steroids permanently alter hormones? Is it by injury to the liver? The testes?

Sorry, but I really don't understand how all this works. I'd like to give him some good advice, so any help is much appreciated...

I only know that it's been at least a year. What's odd is that he didn't notice the symptoms for a long time apparently. But recently he was having all the classic low T symptoms and he got a blood draw and it was very low per the doc. The doc said he need to see an endocrinologist I believe.

    Why do you ask though?

Tell him see a Dr. Testosterone isn't set at a certain fixed level. It changes daily and the amount of free test in the blood changes as well. If he feels like its low but not low enough to warrant HRT then he should do large compound lifts to stimulate more test production.

I don't know whether short term use can cause permanent damage but the human body is capable of handling drugs much harsher without permanent damage. Guess it has to do with the individual.

He's about 6 foot and around 200. I'm pretty sure that was his only cycle and I know he's a pretty serious lifter w/ low body fat and decent muscle for his age. Don't know what PCT history is...

early 20's shouldn't have that problem. I am 34 so my test levels would be lower than a 20 year olds. you can get prescribed test for men my age but i rather do it myself its cheaper. He may need to go and have blood work done. I do it once a year.
