The main reason I didn't want the gel was you have to be very careful not to let anyone or pets touch your forearms were you rub it in at, if you have pets or small children this can be very danderous!
Is he well respected in the trt field? My doctor wants me to go on trt but would like me to start with androgel. I told him my reasons for injections but would like me to keep an open mind citing Crislers thoughts on gel vs. injections.

My doctor is new to the world of trt but wants to learn so he can manage his own patients, I actually commend him for that because he could have just passed me on to an endo who probably doesnt know much either. My ins. doesnt cover inj's but does cover gel. Does anyone know of any studies that show injections being better than gel? The only one I could find was on hiv patients and it showed gel being better but it looks like the injections could have been bi-weekly.

Also, should I tell him about my previous steroid use?

That was my first point to the doc. This is what Crisler says about it.
Much is made of the risk posed by accidental transferal of testosterone to others, such as children or sexual partners. Simply covering with a T-shirt has been shown to block transfer of the hormone. The testosterone sinks into the skin within an hour. One may shower, or even swim, without worry, usually after four hours. I remind my patients most of us have neither the time, nor the opportunity, for romance until evening (given the usual early morning application), and a quick shower is always nice for a gentleman to “freshen up” prior to same.
