My fiancé is on this medication now taking 500 mg x 3 per day. It does make her nauseous and also causes diarrhea. Honestly, she hates the medication.

It was prescribed to her as part of a treatment for PCOS. She has only been taking it for about 3 weeks however she has yet to see any benefit from it.

I would be taking the med for different reasons. I didn't even know that it was considered as a treatment for PCOS.

    thank you for the input.

as a tx for gluc control I usually see 500-2000mg daily. Its like any drug and has some gastrointestinal side effects and like any hypoglycemic med ur gonna need to watch ur blood sugar.... But aside from that metformin is really rough on the kidneys, its a big no no prior to or after any imaging studies using certain IV contrasts (usually stop administration 48hrs before and after). And in my own experience I've seen A LOT of patients on met with advancing renal failure. Granted diabetes in its own right is hard on the kidneys

Check this thread out ROID. Me and a few others commented about glucophage usage a while back. PM me if you need any more advice.

My doc gave me Metformin for diabetes. The sides were so bad i discontinued using it after three days, than Doc switched me to a different form of it, which was just as bad! I had severe stomach pain, diarrhea, nausia, and weakness. In my opinion That medicine sucks big dirty monkey ass!
