    AAS and Cramping

Hey, wondering if anyone else has a problem with cramping on cycle? Or is it just the heat? My whole body has been cramping, enough to where I can't get up. Not all at once, but sometimes the legs, sometimes the forearms, etc. Doesn't cramp if I'm still, but it does if I stretch, I even went swimming after work, and that was a bitch too. Any thoughts? I drink TONS of water and take my vitamins and eat my veggies and pin my Test E like a good boy should, but would love that to stop! Thanks

like hamstrings, forearms cramp up so much I can't move my fingers, they just pull forward. Looks hilarious when I am trying to shake them out!!!! HAHAHA Totally handicapped looking! And its during work, not super hard. Was digging ditches, not lifting. So I was even stretching a lot by bending forward, but the hammies lock up

You might try some potassium & magnesium in your supplement pile. I think taurine would help as well. Don't load it as too much is not great either. You might also look at using an electrolyte drink (even Pedialyte is a great option) to help w/ balance electrolytes.

Messing w/ potassium supps can be dangerous. an electrolyte drink is prob the safest bet if low electrolytes are the problem.

Potassium is involved in cardiac function (among many other functions) and can be deadly at high doses. Some lethal injections are nothing more than a potassium bolus.

Yup. The worst part for me is waking up in the morning and standing up out of bed. I have to take it SLOW.

Agreed - but the point being that cramping is usually a result of an electrolyte imbalance and especially those drinks are an easy approach. As I've noted before, my context is coming from the extremes (and structured supplement, training, diet, cardio protocol) so I have a schedule where I start including potassium, but as you note, too much is not good.

So for 'maintenance' (i.e. not a competition context), the electrolyte drinks are a very easy thing to test and see if it helps improve the situation.

Cramping is most commonly caused by dehydration. How much water are you drinking daily?

I was going to say water intake was low as well, but drinking that much water can leave you low on electrolytes. Even gatorade or something would probably help, or try a dedicated electrolyte supp.

I get some bad cramps as well though, was doing squats earlier and my shoulders were getting a serious pump/cramp because of the bar position. Worst is when you stretch your legs and your toes curl up lol

Every time I've gone thru a contest prep and gotten down < 11% I start to deal w/ cramping, especially at night. I typically drink 2 gal of water but at that point in the prep I've usually got a good burn rate going and bodyfat is down and peeing is up -- so there's still electrolyte issues. Just drinking enough water isn't going to prevent cramping.

No it won't, but it is part of the equation. Low sodium and potassium are also generally the culprits, but this had been addressed already.

I know a lot of people say taurine helps, but it didn't with me. Might give it a shot because it's cheap.
