Buffalo Prison Guard Pleads Guilty to Selling Steroids By Millard Baker
A prison guard at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia pleaded guilty to one count of “distribution and possession with intent to distribute anabolic steroids” on August 8, 2011. Richard Lazzaro was a federal contract employee working as a detention officer in the Buffalo prison when he was busted selling steroids.
Lazzaro was arrested at his Cheektowaga home in January 2011 after selling 943 tablets of Dianabol (methandrostenolone) and 33.7 milliliters of an unspecified testosterone ester to a confidential source working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The confidential source had paid Lazzaro $1,000.00 for the Dbol and Testosterone.
According to Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Lazzaro faces 0 to 6 months in prison, a find of up to $500,000 and 2-3 years of probation.
Lazzaro was one of three employees working at the Buffalo Federal Detention Center who were busted due to their involvement with anabolic steroids. Michael Trautmann, a federal detention officer, and Richard Eldridge, an immigration detention officer, were also arrested on steroid charges.
The steroid investigation involved special agents from the FBI, the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Office of Inspector General.
Glad to see Uncle Sam does not want our Prison Guards to be bigger and stronger than the inmates they have to fight with on occassion. Also glad to see the FBI is dedicating time, $ and resources to bust those who use test; that is, the same chemical our own bodies produce. Forget the terrorists and child rapists!!! Leave them alone. Let them kill innocent people and children. Instead, go after the white-collar and blue-collar employed citizens who actually make a contribution to society and happen to enjoy lifting weights, dieting, staying fit and living a healthy lifestyle.
Way to go Feds! The world is surely a safer place now!
