    High Blood Pressure!

Hey guys, at 41 years of age I have never had high blood pressure, the last couple of months it has been elevated, usually around 140/90 to 170/110, the only thing I have been doing different is taking accutane!

I looked up the side effects and nothing I could find says anything about high blood pressure, I feel fine except I'm getting a pulse like symptom in my right ear, a nurse told me thats from the bottom number being to high!

    Any suggestions???

As always, thank you in advance, BIG

I've never seen BP issues from Accu, there may be an underlaying cause... in which case I would always say see your doc.

Advanced Cycle Support really helps drop my BP . I get high BP from time to time. By the way I don't know how big your arms are but if they are over 18inches and you use a regular cuff it can cause an elevated reading. Happened to me more than once now I know better my doc told me to make sure I use a bigger cuff and the reading are always lower.

Maybe this is the problem? I'm using a portable one that goes around the wrist, it keeps saying its high also, My first reading was takin at the hospital, so I dont know if they have a standard sized cuff or not, they used the machine instead of doing it the old school way! I haven't measured my arms in some time but yes they are over 18 inches! Also I am taking Advanced Cycle Support, along with 6 grams of fish oil a day!
I thank everyone that has chimed in on this issue for me

Done a quick search on accutane and BP - seems like there are a lot of anecdotal evidence of high BP and Accutane. Accutane does increase triglycerides (cholesterol) and thus may have a secondary link due BP.

Definitely go see the doc sooner than later.

Natural supplements, that are easy to use and obtain, which may assist in lowering your BP:

    Omega 3
    Potassium
L-Arginine (From good to best Arginine HCL, then Arginine Alphaketo-glutarate (AKG) then Arginine Pyroglutamate)
Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed) with a high Icariin extraction functions the same as Sildenafil (Viagra) – just much cheaper.

    Avoid: (Subject to…)

Naringin (Naringenin) is one of the most abundant citrus bioflavonoids. A high-vegetable diet with various fruits and vegetables daily including on average one glass of orange juice contains naringenin, or commonly referred to as a grapefruit extract. Naringin affects (increases) the dose/efficacy and half life of many drugs/supplements. Especially BP medicine.

Of course a good multi vitamin is essential. Many vitamins, etc, have an effect as well… for the sake of keeping it short. Bovine colostrum powder would be a great addition for general good health to top it off.

    Awesome!
Always make sure you have the proper size for your BP cuff.
Alot of the ones that come standard are 7in-13in....if your arm is within this range you should probably not be on this forum
Larger ones are in the 13-17 inch range. Some need custom ones.
A cuff thats too small will give a false high.
All information provided by me is for research purpose only. I do not sell illegal compounds nor can I supply anyone with a source for raw materials.

Thank God Brother. If my BP was 170/110 I would freak!!!! I'm sure you did.Glad you have it under control. We all have to watch our BP in this game. It will KILL you. I would advise anyone over 30 to get an at home BP monitor if you are going to use gear. Also watch the use of AI's. They can KILL your lipid panel setting you up for cardio disease and stroke in the long term. Great topic, something we don't talk about enough.

I use a wrist monitor, I've heard good and bad things about them but this is a nice one and it seems Pretty accurate to the one at the hospital!

Back in early June my BP was at an alltime high of 161/110 so I dropped the orals, kicked in high gear with Fish oil and Hawthorne Berry and now it's back to a comfortable textbook-like 120/80. I was almost passing out throughout my entire workouts, etc. Not a good feeling. Also, readings between right and left arm can vary by as much as 10+ points. In addition, it's been said that a cuff that's too small will give an inaccurate reading.

that's kind of a blanket statement, don't you think? I work with many great physician's assistants and nurse practitioners. Many of whom actually take the time to listen to patients and do full assessments.

As our medical costs continue to rise and baby boomers reach the elderly age, we are going to have to become comfortable with PA's and NP's or we won't be able to get any medical care.

I've had this happen many times and they look like "oops" let me use a big cuff.
