Girlfriend and Mother Go to Jail After Hiding Steroids for Inmate

An inmate at a Connecticut state prison called his girlfriend and asked her to dispose of an illegal anabolic steroid stash hidden in his apartment in Manchester (Connecticut). Unbeknownst to Paul Dipietro, his conversation with his girlfriend was recorded by prison officials. They alerted the East Central Narcotics Task Force in Manchester of the plan. While steroid possession is illegal, tampering with evidence is also illegal.

Police responded to the tip and caught Dipietro’s girlfriend and his mother discarding the steroid pills by throwing them out the car window. Dipietro apparently forgot to instruct them to dispose of the pills in the toilet. Investigators located the discarded pills on the side of the road. An analysis of pills confirmed the presence of the steroids stanozolol (aka Winstrol) and oxandrolone (aka Anavar). Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are classified as Schedule III Controlled Substances.

Julie Paivia (the girlfriend) and Nancy Poulin (the mother) were arrested last week as a result. They each face charges of tampering with the evidence, hindering prosecution and interfering. Paivia and Poulin were jailed on $1,500 and $2,500 bond, respectively.

Dipietro was served with an additional arrest warrant last week while he was in prison according to the Hartford Courant. He was charged with two counts of steroid possession in relation to the attempted disposal of steroids from his apartment by his girlfriend and mom..

The three arrests are related to a March 2011 investigation involving steroid possession. The reader is left to assume that Dipietro’s current imprisonment is related to the investigation six months ago but details provided by the Courant are somewhat ambiguous.

This country takes AAS use far to seriously. Didn't sound like those pills where going to be used to hurt or endanger anyone to me. Just pure shit imo.

Whenever I hear stories about the law over punishing some and under punishing others I remember the year after I graduated high school and the two people I know who got arrested.

One guy was a total scumbag who had date rapped at least two girls I know of. Anyways, he had lost his license for a DUI. About a month after he lost it he was out drinking at a party and then was driving home in his dad`s work van. He blew a red light and T boned a small Neon killing a 22 year old girl.

He got 6 months house arrest.

The other guy was never in trouble before and was a nice kid from what I remember.
He got caught with a oz. of weed, some mushrooms and like 4 hits of LSD.

He got 9 months in jail.

Can you see how that`s not fair and balanced?

I don't know man that sounds risky... if they sent a swat team in they would risk accidental exposure to the harmful and downright evil chemicals in the steroids; and before you know it the whole swat team would be ripping people apart by their limbs and gunning down children and elderly in the streets. I wish I had a nickel for every juiced up COP I see on foot patrol at our seaside boardwalk in the summer. No - wait - maybe their 20" arms and amazingly ridiculous vascularity is all natural. Their uniform shirts are juuuuust about to rip clear off their bodies if they take too deep of an inhale. And you can see the chiseled pecs and traps with pulsating 1/4" veins throbbing through the skin. I laugh to think they'd arrest me for my possession of gear only to go home and inject themselves after their shift. I just can't stand the hypocrisy.

One of my best friends is a Corrections Officer and he tells me all about who is juiced up and who isn't. Heck, we both even know State Cops that are juiced.

And to think, a few years ago, LE wouldn't hire me SPECIFICALLY because I admitted to gear use in college. Despite passing polygraph, acing physical fitness test, scoring in the 95th percentile on written exam and passing the oral board exam. I made the final 12 out of 427!! The admitted gear use was THE factor in passing me over for the final selection for the academy. This was told to me directly from the mouth of the CAPT in charge of the hiring process. I laughed out loud, turned around shaking my head, uttered "Un-be-liev-able" and walked away. I felt embarrassed FOR them. ** Turns out one of the chosen 6 candidates had admitted to a DUI about 10 years prior and was STILL selected for academy. At least LE has its priorities in order. LOL.
