Googled Mandarich related to another thread and saw this video. I remember his Sports Illustrated cover like it was yesterday.
Why did he stop using steroids? It seemed -- unless I missed it or misinterpreted it -- he arbitrarily chose to go cold turkey on the juice.

Mandarich was a BIG FISH in a little pond when he was juicing and playing college ball for UM. Then he entered the NFL which contains guys who are bigger, stronger, faster and more juiced up than him. Reality check. Back to Earth.
I like the details he provides on cheating for his urine analysis before the Rose Bowl. Funny stuff.
