    Pinned and swelling

So I did my second pin with 1ml of Test E and .5ml of Deca. I used a 25g 5/8" pin in my delt. The first pin was three days ago about 1/2" away from where I did this one. The injection site immediately swelled a little bit and was immediately warm to the touch. I'm not sure it's something to worry about but I want to be safe from infection. I cleaned the vial tops and arm with alcohol wipes and used a brand new needle. I'm thinking since I did a delt workout a few hours before and just pinned close to the same spot three days before that I irritated it and some gear is sitting under the area, should I be using a 1" for my delts? I'm considering going to 1.5" and doing glutes instead from now on but I'm not sure. Also, can I reuse the 18g needle to draw everytime since I'm using a new needle to inject anyway?

Try using at least a 1" needle...you may not be getting deep enough into the muscle belly to prevent the surface irritation and swelling. 5/8 sounds like barely enough to get past the skin and subcutaneous tissue.

The first one went well but that's because I buried the entire 5/8" needle in, this time I left about an 1/8" out in case I broke it (as I was told to do, so I can get it out).

5/8 is only 3/8 longer than a sub-q slin needle...it may work but unless your sub'q tissue is very thin you aren't getting deep enough even if you bury it. You don't want to just nick the muscle surface, you want to get down into it.

I am convinced that even 1" is too short for glute shots after doing it that way for the first 4 weeks. I can tell that I am getting much deeper into the muscle belly using the same needle on the quads. In the future, I would have a stockpile of 1.5" for glutes and 1" for averything else.

Do you have any longer needles?

It really all depends on your BF%. I can easily get away with slin pinning my delts and using a 1" pin for my glutes, but someone with a higher BF% could not.

Pinning twice per week should I just do delts (alternating left to right) or throw glutes in the rotation too?

Not really...once you've opened the sealed package, bacteria can start to grow which can then be transferred to the oil where it can be drawn into the syringe. If you were drawing twice over the course of a couple minutes (for instance two different vials) that would probably be okay but any longer than that and you're probably asking for trouble.

Why are you pinning same spot in 3 days? Rotate man, rotate. Always use a new needle. Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

I would rotate to quads if you are using shorter needles. Outer quad (if the top of your leg is 12 o'clock, hit your quad right at 1:30 on the right quad or 10:30 on the left quad at the halfway point between your hip and knee.
