was it like this when you got it? are the rubber pieces/oil leaking because you're using a huge gauge pin? If it was clean when you got it that's one thing, if it's had fibers and shit in it from day one that's entirely different. If it's your fault I say get syringe filters and a new vial, and don't destroy it with 18g's

Bottom line, is 1 vial worth an infection or worse?

it was good before the first pin, drawing with a 23g and pinning with a 25g. I'm sure the 23g is puntching out chunks. kinda bummed cause the test was legit.

I pull with 21s and try to make sure not to pin the same spot in the rubber. Not had a problem using that method(not pinning the rubber in the same spot)

Happens from time to time. I've seen entire batches of 50ml bottles with rubber stoppers that had dry rot. All you have to do is rescue the oil and shell out 13.00 for ten filters that can process up to 100ml each. I use Scientific Strategies (I'm not affiliated) they have the best price to reputation ratio and they sell in 10 and 25 count. Which is important if you don't know ahead of time what you're going to run through them. i.e. keep both .20 and .45 filters on hand for all your research needs

thats what I was thinking, using a filter, but I was mainly wondering if it was worth it because oil was leaking from the port where the rubber chunks broke off. So if oil is getting out that means bacteria is getting in. Wasnt sure if I should try and save it. only got 3mls gonna move on to the next vial. Is it possible to save it with a filter or is it not worth it?

That's more like 3 busted amps or around $16. If you feel comfortable filtering it, then ok - otherwise pitch it and start a new vial. Draw as Usealittle mentioned and hopefully you won't have this problem again.

write it off, not worth the risk... you'll blow more eating out at lunch or at happy hour than the gear costs... simply not worth rolling the dice.

i would fill out the customer satisfaction card and send it back...... if that dont work, i would call the company and ask to speak to a manager..

I tried to post a pic in the first post but the fibers are too translucent for my camera to pick up. Theres only a couple of small fibers.
