also hematocrit, which can be taken care of via donating blood semi-frequently IIRC
i was up all last night reading (trensomnia) about cholesterol and triglycerides etc..
one of the reoccurring themes in my reading was the absolute lack of understanding that the medical world has regarding cholesterol levels and the implications therof.
we are so commonly told to keep our cholesterol low, with HDL being, simply put, "good" and ldl being "bad" (great medical terminology there). We are fed all sorts of bullshit about avoiding saturated fats, and things like eggs, because of the "bad" effect they have on our cholesterol.
according to my research, there really is no correlation between cholesterol and heart disease/heart attacks etc..
articles such as Dr. Joseph Mercola: The Cholesterol Myth That Could Be Harming Your Health argue that high cholesterol levels are generally a good thing (except for vldl), whereas triglycerides should be monitored, and efforts should be taken to keep them in optimal range. The article also touches on statins, and how they really arent all they are considered to be..
i strongly believe that as steroid users (and abusers..some of us), we really should not be as concerned with the effects that aas has on our cholesterol levels as we are told we should be.. I feel that as long as we cut the following out of our diets:
-sugar
-alchohol
-fruit
-gluten/most grains
-simple carbs
-dairy
as these are known to increase triglycerides and - vldl - (some things in the list). abstinence from these should, in theory, reduce triglycerides and vldl immensely and promote large fluffy ldl particles (good thing), which would increase the weight of the ldl particles (good thing), which would increase the ldl number (number based on weight per deciliter of blood), which our ignorant doctors would tell us is a bad thing.
-oral steroids
^fun to take, but generally bad for health..period.
and take in plenty of fish oil, coconut oil, and evoo, and do 20-30 minutes of cardio 3x a week or so in addition to our weight-training regimens... we shouldnt really have much to fear.
I believe that on the flip side, bodybuilders who use insulin (which requires the ingestion of massive amounts of sugar and carbs) should be the ones concerned about vldl and triglycerides..
i think that far more emphasis should be put on monitoring our blood pressure, liver health, and insulin sensitivity, and keeping these within optimal ranges is far more important..
am i crazy for believing this?

The reason Hdl is labeled good and LDL bad is not for the science bodybuilding nerds like us bro. It's for the average masses of people who are between 15-25% body fat. The same rules have to be much more in depth for people like us getting in the low single digits of body fat and keeping healthy organs.
Going into that much detail would sound like silly nonsense to the average American, which yes is absolutely pathetic, but that's the world we live in

I let my lipids go crazy once from tren and winny but I was also on a bad diet and did not take care of my self.
Last major cycle I did my lipids stayed perfect. Kept on all my liv protect, fish oil, table spoon of olive oil with each meal. lots of water, cardio 3x a week. Actual cardio not walking. I did allot of sprints to get my heart going good. This helped allot. I think allot of bodybuilders do not do legit cardio meaning working out their cardiovascular system. Many just walk the stepper or tremill never getting their heart rate over 145. Which does not do much for the heart health. I have had no issues with my lipids after incorporating sprints. I keep an heart rate monitor on and monitor my cals burned during bulking though so i can ensure i replenish those lost cals.

also after reading that article I do agree with you on just about all you said except ABSTINENCE from those things.. I believe moderation is key especially when it comes to triglycerides because they do benefit bodybuilders a great deal.
And fish oil, borage oil, and flax seed oil are my go to oils

perhaps, but i feel that if we are to use extreme drugs like steroids, (ok not extreme... but still), strong measures should be taken with our diets, including complete elimination of garbage like sugar/alchohol.
i feel that bber's will get as much triglycerides as they need from complex carb consumption..
good thoughts tho gentlemen
definitely going to be adding magnesium supplementation and silica to my regimen.. i figured more people would be interested in this shit.. considering how many people take statins (whcih are very harmful and not even serving the purpose they were meant to)...
also alternating KCL in with my salt intake![]()
^ good call

this should help
This reminds me. I feel awesome and don't wanna cruise but I have to cause I was just on since August. :-(

HDL helps keep LDL from becoming arterial plaque, keep reading! There is tons I dont know, but when something shifts because of what you're putting through your organs it IS cause for at least minor alarm.

Having high triglycerides is worse than having high hdl imo
