Effect of AAS on Resting Heart Rate...

I'm in my second week of a Test/Anavar cycle...

Test P 150 eod & about 250 of Test E/week (total Test is just below 800mg)
    Anavar 75mg ed

The last few days I've been completely shot. Squatting 3 days ago was harder than it was the week before I started my cycle and I've noticed that my resting HR is closer to 70bpm whereas it's usually at least 5-10bpm lower. Blood pressure is the same as usual, it was actually a little better than usual yesterday.

Now... typically an increase in resting HR is a sure sign of overtraining, so I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not this would be an effect from AAS or not. I've been lifting 2 days on 1 day off, hitting cardio on the off days...very few days completely out of the gym although my cardio days are short. I wouldn't be surprised if I was overtrained.

Also, was taking aromasin 10mg eod, then bumped it up to 10mg ed and my sex drive is no existent at the moment. Going to cut back even further with the aromasin, since I look REALLY dry already and I don't have any other high estro signs like high bp, nipple issues, etc...

Water retention = higher rest HR

Wouldn't that typically cause higher BP too though? Definitely don't feel like I'm retaining water

i doubt that you are overtraining if your sleep and diet are on point..

your potassium/sodium balance may be off. This happened to me very recently.. my muscles looked very dry, my heart rate was elevated, felt weak/lifts decreasing.. and my blood pressure was lower than normal.. i also had absolutely no energy, and it took about 800mg of caffeine to get me into the gym.

i was also not sweating... at all, during my workouts

so i looked at my diet, and i was barely getting 400mg of sodium/day.. yes, 400mg/day. i was getting tons of potassium however (even the "salt" i was using on my food was Kcl... no fucking clue how that happened), which was causing me to be really thirsty and urinate very frequently, further reducing my sodium.. then there's the whole alderstrone thing/reaction, further fucking-up of things including thyroid... = gradual downward spiral.

so i bought a huge fucking jar of pickles and went to town on them.. and bought loads of sea salt, and began heavily salting every meal.

needless to say, i feel all better now and i began sweating again.. lol, it took a few days to reset the balance tho and i looked like a total bloatfish during that time. I now use sea salt on every meal, put it in my workout shakes, etc..

This is definitely not something I would have ever considered so thanks for the post.

My diet's good. I am cycling calories and carbs to cut bodyfat but I've never felt anything like this while dieting. I've been eating VERY clean and really don't add salt to anything especially when dieting although I'm not sure I'm getting a ton of potasium either. I tend to piss a lot anyway, but I have noticed it's been more yellow first thing in the morning and that I've probably been going a little more than usual.

800mg of caffeine!! Jesus! I'll use 200-300mg worth from pre-workout drinks, but even that hasn't really been doing it. The most interesting thing is I just got back from Outback had a nice 24 oz Porterhouse with veggies and I'm sure it was heavily salted...before I jumped on my cpu I was just thinking that I do feel "a little" better. I'm definitely not 100% convinced yet, but I'm going to increase my sodium intake over the next day or two to see what happens.

i had the same mindset regarding "not salting things" when dieting.. critical error. Sodium gets a bad wrap for no reason at all... it's absolutely essential for bodily function, and even more essential for bodybuilding enthusiasts.

it's actually crucial for the uptake of creatine

i could go on, but ill just leave this here and let Scott Abel do the talking for me
