Scammer list?
Quick question;
How often is the scammer list updated? I have a couple of companies that appear to be legit I'd like to order through. I checked the scammer list here and didn't see them on it. |

True. Better know someone that has ordered from them and had success. Otherwise, you risk loosing your money.

that list is pretty old and has not been updated in quite some time, but just as Mudge said not being on a scammer list does not mean much.

They can change thier address at any time, yada yada. If its a website then there is more likelihood of people maybe having used them, but for the most part people dont order from websites.
Some of the sites that are legitimate may selctively scam people, sending partial orders or sometimes not at all, so small orders are usually advised. I am on the west coast and customs here has a reputation for finding everything, so its not even an option for me, and the prices usually suck anyway. If you look at the thread the date is 12-23-2002, since there is no "edited on......" date then that is how old the list is. |

Well, I'm pretty sure I got scammed. It sucks, but lesson learned. I did a search on the place I ordered from and found that they are probably selective scammers. Some receive their gear, while others don't. One guy claimed to have ordered stuff three times in a row and gotten it every time, while other first-time orderers claim to have never gotten a thing.
Is it worth joining one of those "members only" sites that promise to deliver a legit list of suppliers? I thought about it, but they're like $50.00. |

I found my stuff via a $20 a year list, but there are lists that are pay to advertise and those often are a haven for scammers. A certain 3 letter somebody starting with V is infamous for that, anybody with cash could advertise, I was a member of a member refered list.
So some may be cool, some may not, but its a start compared to just using Google to try and find overseas gear which I dont trust. |

On a forum similar to this (the URL eludes me), several posters stated that they never received their order. Many users, however, said they got their order just fine.
I guess I'll just wait and see how it goes. Anyhow, a certain site (initials are "SW") costs $50.00 to join for six months, but promises a list of legit sources. I may join just to get a credible list. Here in small-town U.S.A. there's no real way to get gear other than the internet. |
