    Blood pressure readings

For greater accuracy, measure blood pressure while in a seated position with your arm at the same level as your heart, after you have been at rest for five minutes or more. Baselines vary considerably from one individual to the next.

Look at 'see also' at the bottom:

In a blood pressure study, holding the arm parallel to the body, left, resulted in higher readings than when the arm was held at heart level. The bottom line: Position of the arm makes a difference that may impact treatment or medication decisions.

Man. Now you've got me thinking lol.

A month ago at the doc's I was 150/98. Today I was 120/62. The only changes I'd made since then was swapping enanthate for propionate and adding in anadrol.

Perhaps it was my positioning during my original reading.

Also stress mental and physical, caffinated products... I was hypertension at one point with something like 132/90 and then a couple weeks later I was in the normal range (dont know my exact numbers), this was years ago. I had coffee and was feeling a bit stressed at the time of my test showing me as hypertensive.

caffine really jacks up BP. I am usually around 140/79 and I took my BP after about 30 of drinking a strong brew before heading out to the gym and I was 160/90. I don't know how safe that is to do, but I can imagine that taking an ECA stack all day would keep this elevated. I wonder if my body would get used to the stack and BP would lower after a few days? Hmmm

Yeah 160/90 is stage II Hypertension I think I need to curtail my coffee to one cup a day

If something raises BP it wont be going down within a few days, not anywhere close.

Hey Mudge is there any BP meds out there my doc can give me that won't react bad with AS? The odds are likely that my BP is going to raise on my cycle, and I wanna be ready for it.

My understanding of BP meds is you come to rely on them, and after awhile they dont work as well so you have no choice but to bump them up. I only know of lisinopril and I have not looked at interactions, but I hightly doubt there are any for steroids.

Looking at my own diet my sodium is not very high, I'm 100% USRDA or so, my burgers are low sodium and my chicken nuggets are a bit higher (figures). I'll try to post some stuff on working with high BP later.

Thanks mudge. I eat 90% lean beef myself, and my chicken is frozen(cheaper then fresh, and less frequent shopping) so there is some sodium there. The only other thing that I eat high in sodium is the Italian dressing for salad. I avoid cardio like the plague so I think I should start there. I think good cardio work will bring my BP down after a little while

Alcohol dilates the blood vessels. Is the raise in bp from alcohol staggered. It seems bp would drop due to the bigger vessels at first.

I dont know honestly, Google is your friend

I need to find a BP setup that has a cuff which fits, the store stuff only fits to my forearm and I'm not that big. I can't seem to find the obesity stuff locally.

If I can avoid more than 1 cup of coffee I will try again tomorow. I ended up scoring a 144/88 in a semi-relaxed state but I did walk to the store to get the reading.

Hawthorne Berry/Extract is used by some for lowering BP also.

    5) DO NOT go on BP meds, because of one unfavorable reading, do self monitoring as described above.

I have been faced with this challenge since my 16th birthday. The above advise resulted in 120/80 readings at my house on a continuous basis. I go so far as to bring my cuff to the doctor's office when they check it (kind of like security blanket, lol)

Here is what is interesting and everyone should be aware of (it was mentioned earlier). I never had hypertension. The BP reading was way off because they used a regular size cuff on me and I have 19 1/2 arms. When I got in the ER my BP was 61/49. This is not good. There were some complications to the endoscopic surgery so I had to stay in the hospital for five days while they were monitoring my Hemoglobin counts. During this time they checked my vitals constantly and my BP was normal the entire time. My doctors couldn't believe that the doctor I saw initially prescribed BP meds to me after one reading.

Hey Mudge goto http://www.byramhealthcare.com and go to contact us and call a place close to your house. My girlfriend got me a BP monitor there for my B-Day this past Feb. They will ship it right to your door. I got the Mabis SmartRead Digital BP monitor model # 04-244-006. I got that and had them order me the oversized cuff. Make sure you stress the oversized cuff thing because they sent the small one the first time and had to send it back to get correct one. I think she paid close to $100 for the monitor and the cuff. I really like it. Its all auto just hit the button and it does it all, and its got a memory so you can compare new readings to old ones.
