    Question Finding a doctor

How do you find a doctor who you can tell that you use gear and have him monitor you. Won't most docs flip out? Are there certain ways of finding docs that see patients that juice?

Get blood work done on your own, if you tell your doc to do it I think you can forget insurance covering it anyway.

It has to be doctor prescribed to get bloodwork done. So basically if you use the steroids and tell the doc you want bloodwork its gonna come out of your own pocket. The doctor will not prescribe blood work just cause you want it done. You have to give a reason why you think the blood work is needed, and the doctor decides if you need it. So if you tell the doc you've been taking steroids and you want to make sure your liver is doing good or make sure your still making your own test then maybe the doctor will prescribe it. The problem with that is I have heard that if something goes wrong with you its possible that the insurance will say its linked to steroid abuse and not cover it. Especially if you have to switch to a different insurance company from changing jobs. If something happens to you your new insurance will look back at your previous medical records and they will try to link the steroids to whatever is wrong with you and not cover it saying that its a pre-exsisting condition. Its BS but thats my take on how the insurance looks at it. Your current provider has to cover the tests but then its in your perminant medical record that your a steroid user.

You can get blood work direct from this lab. They work in conjunction with Lab Corp, which are all over the place. You order the test, they send you a purchase order and you go to a local LabCorp to have your blood drawn. Within a couple of days, you can view your results online, plus they mail you a hard copy. The "Cardio-Plus" is perfect, as it checks your liver values and also cholesterol levels.

PSA should be done too, but that is something you can talk your doctor into checking with a routine checkup.

Prostate specific androgen. It is used to detect prostate cancer. If for some reason you DO have the early stages of prostate cancer (old farts like me need to really monitor this), androgens can accelerate it's growth.

I was just thinking, you really don't need to order the cholesterol test either. Your health insurance should cover regular cholesterol checks also. The only thing you really need to order is the liver profile, which I believe is only $37.

Yeah, I can just got a 16 point test similar to the Comprehensive Wellness Profile from direct labs ($69) at UT for $16. But, if I go back and my liver is shot, then it will go on my perm record and when I leave the University and get real insurance, it will be a preexisting condition. So, I will go with direct lab--even though it will cost more--and keep my liver condition private.

Oh, and thanks JerseyDevil. I am 27, and haven't thought much about prostate problems yet. All my blood tests came at fine, though. Except sodium was high.

blood blood blood. Its something most people don't think about or want to get checked for one reason or another. I can only say its a beautiful thing. Its probably the easiest way to detect a problem before it becomes one. I hope all my bro's out there are doing it as often as possible.
