Dude, that's the ENTIRE misconception in society.

Assholes in the media won't accept that they sucked in sports, and they need justification as to why others succeeded and made the pros...ie "they took steroids, they made it"

haha i know just what you're talking about. that movie always cracks me up. do you think the steroids should be out of his system after the 90 day suspension? not sure how long that thing takes to run its course. any ways for someone to test clean early if it dont?

VERY TRUE That is a big part of it. thats why you see many dominent mexicans in the lower weights. You rarely ever see a good latin heavyweight though. As far as REAL small black fighters who are great then look at Mark 'Too Sharp' Johnson(in his prime)

If it was a nandrolone he is probably going to have to be creative, but it depends how long he was off it when he tested dirty too which we dont know.

Yes , Do you? In tha lower weight classes, race is NOT tha reason fighters are great. There happens to be more latin, and asian fighters at 102 thru 130.Competition at those weights is really minimum as far as international. But if you are even dream'n that there have not been MANY black champions in lower weights you might wanna start your research way back at tha original Dick Tiger 1929,Sandy Saddler,Henry Armstrong, Kid Choclate, Willie Gates,Tha incredible Azuma Nelson,Rocky Lockridge,Jolt'n Jeff Chandler,Boza Edwards,Freddie Penddleton,Patrick Ford,Esabio Padrodza,Livingstone Bramble,(Started out at 127),Hilmer Kenty( started out at 118),Smoke'n Joe Jackson (amazing at 108) etc.............. Need more ?

Spaz you're full of shit... most of the best fighters pound for pound today and throughout history have been black. mexican fighters do have a legacy but even winky wright proved the other day that every dog has his day.

Pound for pound I'd go with a Thai. A 173 pound thai beat senseless several pro-fighters over 200 pounds, a 6'5" 245er and a 280 pound boxer from America, to name just a couple. 173 pounds is very heavy for a Thai, for those who couldn't guess that.

Why?

They start earlier, and they dont fight to lose.

Who were the pro boxers? The 280 boxer probably needs to lose a few pounds. Never seen a boxer that heavy that was in shape. Do you recall his name? Even 245 is getting a on the large end for boxers. Not saying it can't be done, but I don't recall any heavyweight that big that was good.

Yep, if you consider that a superior way of fighting is sometimes overlooked due to arrogance. In 1976, 55 fighters from various countries (Japan included) came to fight the Thais. Each and everyone of them had their asses handed to them. The Japanese were so impressed, they decided to try and "steal" Muay Thai, however they removed the most effective weapons - the knees and elbows. They called this, Kickboxing.

NT, I will look it up.

Watching some journeymen boxers, you begin to wonder if that statement really is true. I've seen some records that might indicate that the $xxxx paycheck is worth a few rounds of getting kicked around. Some think some train to just show up.

Kaoklai Kaennorsing a 21 year old Thai, vs "Mighty Mo" Siligia 33 year old American.

At a mere 172 pounds, Kaennorsing represents the smallest fighter in K-1 history to win a Grand Prix tournament championship (K-1 World Grand Prix 2004 in Seoul, Korea, July 17th) and will give up more than 100 pounds to his December 4th opponent (2004).

Oh ... I thought you meant some Thai boxer beat a boxer 100lbs out of his weight class. K1 (if I'm not mistaken) is a martial arts type fight. That I can see happening. I'd be willing to bet that you place that Thai fighter in the ring with his only means of fighting being his fists, and he'll have his ass handed right back to him

NT, that is the whole point. Limiting yourself, is a deficient form of fighting. Why did they beat the crap out of everyone else? A superior method of fighting developed out of neccessity. Poor people couldn't afford weapons, and Siam (now Thailand) required that all able-bodied males fight for their country because countries like Burma were harrassing them, or even before that, you can trace the Thai boxing style back to when they left China nearly 2000 years ago as nomads.

So to replace the weapons (stick for example) the Thai discovered that an elbow is very good for cutting an opponent. A knee carries a great deal of force, and of course is great on the side of someones skull. Anyhow, its a very interesting history, and a very deadly art. Rules imposed in the 1930s by the government were to help reduce all the ring deaths. Its not that they were a brutish people that fought to the death for fun, even when using resin soaked hemp rope (gloves) dipped in glass, which both fighters had to agree too, they often would only fight till first blood. This could be litterally a scratch, and that was the end of the match. But the effectiveness of the methods are what make them deadly. It was created out of neccessity, to stop an enemy as fast as possible, this is no pussy "art," it was created to defend in the fastest and best way they knew how, and it worked damn well.

So sure, take a guys legs and elbows away and he wont be as good of a fighter. Take a guys rifle away and he will be a pretty shitty sharpsooter.

Muay Thai is considered Thai Fist, or Thai boxing by them. And the American was a boxer as we in the west know them to be, fists.

OK, I know a lil bit bout Muay Thai. Mudge, you are speaking of Ketsongrat I assume ,who was tha first Thai "big man" 168 lbs to compete in Europe againist Bronco Citacitake 260lbs( know I spelled tha name wrong) in tha 80's and and KOed him. He also fought Rick rufus in tha 80's and KOed rick wit leg kicks. He also fought Pete Tillis 276lbs and beat tha shit outta him. However these where all Muay Thai matches. Tha most sucessful Thais to box would be wit out a doubt tha Galexy Brothers Hurricane and Kosea,They were fantastic. Tha most sucessful Thai Boxer to switch over to international box'n would be Sambat who held a couple of WBC and WBA titles. I lived in Thailand for a couple of years an I know that box'n is not their strong point. I look at things just a bit different as compare'n fight'n and sport fight'n. Muay Thai and Box'n are totally different sports to compare them or tha athletes is like compare'n apples to oranges both fruit, but each very different. I personally compete in both and I'm here to tell you that everythin is different, range, distance, weapons, angles, training ,even impact. All that bein said I don't think any one group of people can be view as a whole as tha " toughest" I've fought some World class Thais whom I treated like a bum and I've fought some Dutch guys that are like Jason, or Mike Myers. As a matter of fact tha toughest fight I've ever had Muay thai was a guy named Wolf Doleburg from Holland .Tough don't even describe this sick fucker, and a great fighter.I do think however that certain people no matter what race or location are born to be fighters. When I was a kid in Jamacia I used to learn from Livingston Bramble and Simon Brown, both were world Champion boxers and were great fighters. I personally believe that TRAIN'N methods determines tha level that fighers rise to. For example in Muay Thai tha Thai used to be tha shit until tha Dutch guys guys studied and upgraded their train'n wit tha main foucus on beat'n tha Thais. Now in my opinion tha finest Thai boxers come from Holland. But what tha fuck do I know ! Peace n Love

I have read about Holland and France's Muay Thai guys, like Decker and so on (historical references). Europe though to my knowlege still has softer rules, which sometimes hurts virginal Europeans who fight in Thailand who aren't used to the constant low kicks or elbows.

I think their main point is they start so young, they are bred to take hits. Practice makes perfect, right? As for the whole "race" thing I dont even get into that shit. We all work with whatever we have, but if some guy has spent twice as long and LIVED on the sport while growing up and had huge national pride behind it, he is probably going to have an upper hand by default.
