    About this article. SHBG

    http://www.ironmagazine.com/article75.html

Is this supposed to be anything significant in bodybuilding? Would like to hear a discussion on this topic amongst forum members.

Good subject. However, having more testosterone actually lowers SHBG--it doesn't raise it. Same with insulin, GH, T3, DHT and just about every other anabolic hormone.

Here is the problem with lowering or occupying SHBG: you free up more estrogen. Some of those supplements mentioned in that article seem to help with libido in the short term, but I've not seen them used succesfully as anabolics. Here is a good discussion on Testosterone Replacement Therapy for those with low SHBG:

Also note that low SHBG is very common among obese individuals. Clearly, it doesn't give them any benefit as to gaining muscle or make them walking sex machines.

I see. The writer of the article made it sound like estrogen wouldn't be a problem because the free test was naturally occuring. I felt this was too good to be true. No matter how you mess with your test naturally or otherwise there is always a backlash to ballance things.

High SHBG is claimed to be common in people who are true ectos. Winstrol is claimed to lower SHBG up to 50%, interesting stuff.
