    Easiest $800 I ever made

About a month ago I smacked a 8 pointer in the ass about 5am while heading to the gym in the wife's new G37. The car needed a bumper, fender and a $1000 HID headlight and the claim was just over $3K.

Well, I just looked at yesterday's mail and I'll be damned if there wasn't a $800 diminished value check in there from State Farm. I had forgotten all about the diminished ruling here in GA.

Wow, that's amazing. I'm in the collision business and here in AZ the insurance co's avoid talking about diminished value like it's the plague. I can't believe there is a law in your state forcing them to pay up; that's awesome!

I think the real question here is: What are you gonna do with the deer? Please tell me you didn't waste all that protein?
May the plop be on you.

It's the difference in value now that it has been wrecked and repaired as opposed to undamaged. If you were deciding between two identical cars to buy but one was in a wreck and repaired, you would expect to pay less for the damaged, repaired one. That drop in value is the diminished value that is due to the current owner of the vehicle as he will take a hit when selling it now. The problem is that people don't know about this and the insurance co's don't want you to know. Diminished value claims are becoming more common as things like Carfax become the norm.

Wow, thats awesome. So your saying that even though the car/truck is fixed you get money for it being in a wreck because it may haunt you when and if you sell it? No shit thats great.

The question is, did the deer die and if so did you take it and have it butchered? Venison is the bomb!

    Smile

Well thanks to 4 corners of 4 piston calipers Bambi's dad easily lived (I'm a former deer hunter and circled back around just in case I had to put him down but it was an easy hit).

As far as Carfax goes I agree but it doesn't apply as this is a 2yr high mileage corporate lease so come August '13 this is Infiniti's baby.

I run a 0 comp deduct so I'm out of pocket nothing. While that might seem crazy, I've ran the numbers and 0 comp and 500 collision makes sense considering how cheap our ins is.

As someone who has painted ~100 cars, this pearl paint/blend job is flawless.

I had a G35 coupe all but destroyed by baseball hail 5/11. I was pissed SF didn't total it but they did pay to all but dissasemble the whole car and pull the quarter windows in order to paint the car correctly all over without tape lines. It blew out the rear window, the sunroof and the windshield. Try that shit with Geico, Allstate and Einsurance (I do millions per year in sales in the collision industry).

That said, the minute that car was back, I flipped it on criagslist before carfax caught up.

    Carfax has pros and cons.
