my spending habits are exactly the same as the combination of my parents. mom likes to travel the world and eat at fancy restaurants while dad liked to save as much as possible for the future and enjoy things around the house.

I'd get excited if there was something that I actually needed but I'm content with what I have. I don't subscribe to cable or satellite, fuck those jews. I just download whatever I want to watch when it's convenient for me to do so.

Wrong I pay for cable because the special was cheaper for my internet. I miss an episode, I download it. By default I already paid for it, they just sired it at the wrong time slot.

Black friday is for poor people. People who have money or are just good at math don't spend days waiting in line to save a hundred dollars on some product.

On a positive note...

Every year on Black Friday (as long as I am stateside) I collect donations for Toys For Tots and Coats For Kids, two organizations that are near and dear to me.
I team up with as many active service and retired Marines and their families as I can muster (usually the volunteers number more than I need).
They're all people who could be out shopping or spending time indoors where it's warm yet they choose to go out in the cold and spend their time helping others.
We set up all around the area at dozens of prime retail locations and take advantage of the spirit of giving that possess so many during the holidays.
While observing all the lust and the avarice so common this time of year we also get to witness generosity from so many who are willing to help.
Yesterday we collected just over $63,000 in merchandise, cash and gift card donations. That doesn't include several local businesses who donated services for families in need (a wheelchair ramp for a Marine who lost his legs in Afghanistan was among those services donated...construction began TODAY).
Donations for those organizations are still coming in.

Today I had another team out collecting food for local shelters and food banks as well as food and supplies for the local animal shelters. We did very well, people have been generous.

I was actually expecting we'd collect less this year than last but we've more than doubled what was collected last year. In a word I am "amazed."
I am truly humbled by the generosity I've witnessed.

No doubt there are many people who profit greatly from this time of year and for many of those retailers this season is what makes or breaks them.
Love it or hate it it's part of our economy. Those retailers and businesses be they local or multinational, private or public, large or small make up a huge part of our economy and employ millions. Where would we be without them?

There are still a lot of really good people out there.
As far as respect, I appreciate that but I believe the respect is for those who have so generously donated. Most of those making donations are actually from middle to lower class families who know what it's like to go without.
I am happy your efforts met with success.
The people and families that you helped were able to enjoy a bit of what most of us take for granted.
My hat is off to you.

I grew up poor eating nothing but top ramen on a weekly basis. I went to school, got a degree, make decent money, and hope that the average person doesnt have to go through what I did as a child. I ask for nothing in return.

If your poor that's your fault. I grew up lower class eating bologna and ramen also. I busted my ass got promoted not once but twice and got everything I have by my damn self. I'm not putting down my dad at all. He worked his ass off to give me what I had as a child and always had some kind of food and a roof over my head. Black Friday is the dumbest shit I've ever heard of. It's pathetic as fuck that the stores have started there shit extra early this year. People missed thanksgiving dinner to stand in line for some dumbass door buster for there spoiled ass kid that would scream and cry if they didn't get what they want. If I ever bitched about something I didn't get for Xmas or my birthday my dad woulda beat my ass and took whatever he got me back. Fucking spoiled ass kids. There turning out to be pussys and tree huggers cuz of there parents.
