My elbow has been bothering me for months,
thought it would get better, but it has really
gotten painful and realized last night, that I
cannot straighten my arm out all the way.
This sucks, guess I should have taken some
time off before now. There isn't any swelling
and I'm pretty sure its tendons and not a joint
problem.

I plan on resting it for awhile, and then see
what happens, if it doesn't get better after awhile,
guess I'll have to see a doctor that specializes
in sports injuries.

To make matters worse I'm a working man
and resting the damn thing is going to hard to do!
Only alternative at this moment in time, may be to
convert everything I do to my left arm. It's going
to be a bitch hitting a chisel with a 4 pound
hammer as a lefty!:(

Vioxx worked great for me. Need a Rx though.

It can be used for arthritis. It's a strong cox2 inhibitor which makes it an inflammatory drug. That's what arthritis is, inflammation.

If you can't even straighten your elbow I would see a doc.

I see.

I think OTC anti-inflamatories are sufficient for things like tendinitus.

I agree, I only use vioxx when the pain is severe and I wanted to train. Luckily I've changed my workout attitude and now no longer have pain or need for it. (Except for shin splints)

signs and symptoms of injury include, but are not limited to, swelling, change in temperature in the area, brusing, deformation, and pain. sometimes, all these things happens and sometimes they dont. just because you dont have swelling doesnt mean that it isnt a joint problem. the first thing you should do is ice it and rest it. drugs alone arent going to make anything better, just decrease the pain signals going to your brain. you would probably doing yourself a big favor by going to a doctor or a physical therapist. that way, you can find out whats going on and then proceeding with the proper treatment rather than guessing your way through it.:)

But if you go to a Doctor, you must go to a Sports Doctor!!! I can't stress that enough, believe me. A GP will just look at it and tell you to stop lifting weights. A sports doctor understands the body as it centers around sports and will have many different therapies to help you continue what your doing.

Good point rock!!

a "regular" doctor will definately tell you to take two weeks off the weights....

Thanks for the advice!

Prince,

I did start using ibuprofen a few days before I
posted this topic, and it is feeling better, and
the pain has subsided pretty much, and I am
able to straighten the arm out more than I could
a few days ago, of course I haven't done any lifting.
I will wait a few days, and probably start stretching
the arm out and see if it will return to its former
flexibility with out pain. I am still doing squats, but
I make sure to take the weights off the bar before
it's on the rack, to keep from irritating it further.

I'd like to respond to everybody else's comments
but pressed for time.
