Arnie's a politician now, these are the kinds of statements we all expect from our politcians. 
The "should have known better" was a reference to Rumsfeld's comment, not Arnold's. It was supposed to have been a play on words (Rumsfeld's words, that is).

I actually think it was pretty incredible that Rumsfeld didn't F-it up, really the whole thing was kind of complicated and it would be easy to get it all twisted up.
As for Arnold's - Well what else can you say marriage, be definition IS between a man and a woman, I don't know, maybe one could make an argument for a transexual being a woman (although not genetically), then gay marriage could be bewtween a man and a woman.
