Are supplements necessary if you diet well?

I'm trying build upper body mass and strength, and maintain lower body mass and strength. I figured routine and diet would be plenty to do the trick.

Does anyone get great results without resorting to supplements or is it just a fact of bodybuilding/healthy life?

my first 4-5 years i trained i had no idea about supps, food, food, and more food, thats all i had.like prince said, they will help.a good multi-vit,plus alot of water is a must if your going to go with out the other supps.depending on your wants and desires and wallet situation then you'll have to decide that:D

Not necessary, but definitly helpful.

Creatine is good, but I don't know if I would call it an "all around supplement."
