How much protein should I consume.

I weigh a pretty lean 185 at 5 foot 11

I think I need to increase my intake. I usually get around 170 grams or so.
 
Depending on your needs, probably between 1 to 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight per day.

If you want to know precisely how much, you need to do some reading.

It is not just a matter of protein - your body needs carbs and fats to build muscle as well... How much protein you will need depends on a lot of things! For some, 0.8-1g per pound is PLENTY, for others, something up to 1.5g per pound can be used.

Generally, 1-1.5g per pound (some use total weight, others use LBM) is used as a rough guideline for protein intake.
