Are the ab machines in the gym any good???

I have heard that they work other muscles more than your actual abs. But I have seen improvement using this machine. I started out setting it at 70lbs, and now(3 months later) I use 90lbs.
 
I like using them but they don't have one at my gym so I don't get to that often.

Here's a list of what a seated crunch machine would work:
Target
Rectus Abdominis

Synergists
Obliques

Stabilizers
Pectoralis Major, Sternal
Latissimus Dorsi
Teres Major
Deltoid, Posterior
Triceps, Long Head
 
remember to "un-cover" those abs you must lose enough body fat to show the fruits of your labor...
 
Me like hanging leg lifts best... never been a fan of the machines.

Yep, and ya gotta loose the fat! You could have the best, strongest abs in the world and if they're covered in fat you might as well just forget about um.
