Building your own home gym

I recently have been thinking about a home gym, and wondering what equipment I would need that would fulfill all my needs. I have 3 main concerns about this subject: The first being where would I construct this home gym, my garage, living room, etc. Second what equipment should I purchase, and third how am I going to find cheap and affordable prices.
