Post Performance Enhancing Drugs For Scientists

Performance Enhancing Drugs For ScientistsRecently, Chris Good, of The Atlantic, has argued that scientists ought to be given performance enhancing drugs; not anabolic steroids, mind you, but rather, cognition enhancing drugs that are currently off-limits due to legality. Hallucinogens (LSD, for creativity), stimulants (Ritalin, for example, to help with focus), and other medications could conceivably [...]

Neurotrophic drugs and other cognitive enhancing drugs should be legal for anyone who wants them. I ordered a huge package of ritalin and adderall. I plan to power through the stack of books on my desk sometime over one of the upcoming weekends once my shipment arrives.

It saddens me deeply that this topic hasn't been discussed more. I have an awesome addition of Scientific American that discusses in details how we can supercharge the brain for a short while safely if done correctly.

This was a pretty incredible listen. I have since been in search of getting my hands on some of these neurotrophic drugs. Just like steroids and hgh can help you to push your body way past what you could do naturally, there are drugs hitting the market that can help you push your cognitive abilities far past what you thought you could do normally.

Also, as a scientist, you should be required by law to trip your balls off once or twice a year to shatter your reality and think outside of the prison of your own perception.

It's just a general interest of mine. I want to be smarter. I want to be able to absorb information faster and remember it longer. I can't remember shit. I have a vague recollection of half the shit I read, but I have to go look it up again if I want the details.

i've got to admit I don't want my physician being the guinea pig for things like this, but I'd be interested in seeing what we can do chemically to improve memory, thought processes and connections in the brain.
