    Post Species Nutrition Update

Species Nutrition Update ?by Anthony Roberts Species Nutrition is in flux right now, either planning to reformulate their current line, or to phase the brand out altogether. I’m hearing that Bactolac (the company who previously handled their product manufacturing) is hesitant to continue working with Species and owner, Dave Palumbo, as they’ve been named in [...]

Usnic Acid pulled from Species Nutrition line

by Anthony Roberts on July 31, 2010

In a rare instance of the entire nutritional supplement community coming together, the day is finally here when all voices are united in making a singular statement:

    WE TOLD YOU SO!

Usnic Acid has officially been removed from the Species Nutrition product line. I guess technically this means the entire nutritional industry wasn’t united, because Species was the odd man out…but you get the picture. Everyone who, two years ago, shook their heads in disgust when they heard about Usnic Acid being used in Dave Palumbo’s product line, can now say that they were right all along.

I’m talking to you, Mr. Pierce.
I’m talking to you, Mr. Kneller.
I’m talking to you, Mr. Goodrum
I’m even talking to you, Mr. Blechman.

The amazing thing here is that Dave Palumbo is being sued for putting a dangerous product on the market…and he’s inevitably going to lose (or settle) the lawsuit. Retailers have pulled his products off their shelves. Nobody wants to work with his company. And now he’s even removed the dangerous ingredient from the products….yet he’ll never publicly admit that he f*cked up. He’ll let his cronies keep talking about how it was a “business decision” and how Dave was right all along, and that Usnic Acid is safe, blah blah blah…

But perhaps this is a victory of sorts, because while his company will still produce mediocre products, at least they won’t be dangerous.
    Then again, maybe not.

    • [*Unfortunately, while I knew about the reformulation for about a month, I sat on the info to protect a source, and the company officially announced it two days prior to my last blog post (which is now amended, because I look like a douche for predicting something that had happened two days prior - also, H/T to AnabolicSociety.net for informing me about the already-posted reformulation of these products. ]

Another Species Nutrition customer gets a liver transplant

Another Species Nutrition customer gets a liver transplant

Yesterday I received an email from a national level NPC bodybuilder, claiming that one of his personal training clients had been using Lipolyze and subsequently was forced to undergo a liver transplant. The email wasn’t anonymous, and I was able to quickly check out the identity of the bodybuilder in question, and confirm that it was actually him. Generally, I believe that if someone is willing to put their real name on an email, and send it from a legit account (the one that they use for business, no less), then I feel the email carries a high degree of credibility.

You may recall that this is the second email I’ve received (click to see the first) , alleging liver damage from Species Nutrition products, since I broke the story about them being sued.

what was the usnic acid supposed to be used for? i looked on wikipedia and it briefly mentioned as "an ingredient in food supplements for use in weight reduction"...

I feel bad for people who use diet pills now. They're the snake oil of the last 10 years. Qwackery- you'll be lucky just not to suffer permanent health damage let alone lose weight.
