British Dragon Founder Soon to Be Extradited to United States for Trial
Edwin Richard Crawley, the founder of British Dragon, will soon join his business partner Ashley Vincent Livingston in the United States to face trial on anabolic steroid distribution and money laundering charges. The Thailand Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling authorizing extradition proceedings against Crawley and Livingston. A Thailand Criminal Court originally ruled to extradite Crawley and Livingston in 2008. Livingston did not appeal the ruling and was extradited to the United States two years ago(“Two Brits Arrested in Pattaya for Exporting Steroids to be ‘Extradited to USA‘”, December 16, 2010).
Crawley who had previously appealed against the extradition, but withdrew his appeal on 15th December, had been running his operation since 1999, making enough money to purchase properties worth 20 million baht in Pattaya.
Crawley has received much support both from the online community and locally, where he is well known for helping local charities in Pattaya, and coaching the handicapped weight-lifting team.
The founders of British Dragon were indicted in September 2007 in United States District Court in Seattle on charges of anabolic steroid importation and distribution, conspiracy and money laundering.
Crawley and Livingston were arrested by local police in Pattaya, Thailand on March 21, 2008. Theyapparently did not face any charges in Thailand. However, Thai police arrested them at the request of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) via the Mutual Legal and Assistance Treaty (MLAT) between the United States and Thailand.
(Note: The original British Dragon was one of the best-known and most successful sources of anabolic steroids before the arrest of its founders. The current British Dragon is not associated with the original company and/or its founders.)
