I also heard that if you take Niacin you need to take nicotinic acid, not the "non flush" inositol hexaniacinate

No Flush Niacin - What You Need To Know About No Flush Niacin

"So, with very little nicotinic acid in the blood seen in this study, as well as the lack of evidence seen in other studies, it is doubtful that flush-free niacin is effective in lowering cholesterol. "

I personally have been taking the nicotinic acid for a month now and just had my labs done yesterday. I'll try to remember to post the results. I am only taking 250 mg AM and PM and still get flushing sometimes in the AM. An 81 mg aspirin 30 minutes prior helps with the flushing.
