    Conan: Original versus Reboot...

Will the New ‘Conan the Barbarian’ Live Up To Schwarzenegger’s Version?

By WSJ Staff, March 12, 2011

The new teaser trailer for the “Conan The Barbarian” reboot is out. We’re not certain that the coming movie, which stars some dude named Jason Momoa (Ronon Dex on “Stargate: Atlantis”), can live up to the 1982 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but we hope it does. Before he was a politician, before he was the Governor of California, Schwarzenegger had labored to turn himself into a kind of intercontinental myth, an immigrant who comes to America and transforms himself, through strength of will and body, into a movie star. He basically tried to be Conan before he was Conan, and so the movie benefited from his star quality, epic backstory and impressive ambition.

Watch the new trailer and the old.

Does the coming film seem to measure up to the Schwarzenegger version?

(Update: My 8-year-old just saw some of the trailer for the Schwarzenegger version as I finished up this post. “That must be from the 1900s,” he observed. So maybe it is time for a reboot…)

That guy cant even come close to Arnold! The movie might be ok but the original will always be better. Do you think this guy could punch out a camel?

Arnold is Conan. There is no argument.

They need to make a Conan sequel starring Arnold after Conan becomes King.
