    Jay vs Heath

Still hard for me to decide. Maybe cause I always lean more toward the mass guys . But Heath looks great

Heath looked unreal. Almost Flex wheeler caliber muscularity and shape. Jay looks old IMO his body has been pushed to it's limits. It's time to move from mass to mass with shape. I'm happy to see a new Mr. O

Jay was wide as a truck this year and not in a good way. Look at Phil's waist compared to Jay's. His back was wider but was holding some water this year. If Phil can come in looking like this and continue to improve from show to show like he always has it's going to be very hard to beat him for many years to come. I"m glad to see someone with a good flow and shape win. Jay and Ronnie are massive and that's cool and all but its not a very pleasing look.

Did anyone else notice that Jays waist widened out again? Almost back to where it was 2 years ago, when he was spilling over his suit. He was much tighter in the waist last year.

After watching the finals a couple of times, I think Phil looked more comfortable on stage too. I don't know if Jay was worried about Phil or if his torn bicep(I still believe it was torn not an abcess) was hurting but he was just off with stage presence. I like Jay a lot but as bigdtrain said not a good showing against a well set opponent.

I don't think it was anywhere near 290. Hell as big as Kai or Jay are in contest shape they aren't 290. That had to be a typo. They had Kai at 260 so I highly doubt those numbers are right for either one of them. Phil knew he had it in the bag. You can see it in his poses even in pre-judging callouts and comparisons. That always gives you a sense of confidence. When he finished his posing in the finals, he about broke down. He knew just from looking at Jay and the crowd he had it won.

I can see why Phil won, just look at their waist lines in the front and back shots.

meh, I'm diggin' jays abs they look more appealing. It's like looking at a great white shark and comparing a bullshark.. jay is massive which I lean more towards, but heath is cut and lean. The competition will probably lean toward heath though unfortunately.

no he was not near 290. that was a big mistake. ruhl at same height competes at 285, big difference. heath was probably around 245-255. jays waist was very very wide this year. judges said around 40inches

I agree partially, Phil looked bigger because of the "X" symmetrical shape. So his upper body and lower body appear larger because his waist was tighter. Jay looked heavier because he was more massive all the way through his either physique than Phil.

Phil still had Jay covered in conditioning. Definitely was more shredded from head to toe; even though Jay had a couple of better individual parts like calves and front lats.

    This.

Believe one of the wrap up videos stated he was less than 260.

If Jay had two arms and had come in peeled then he would have retained his title, imo.

As it was, Heath (more like a tall Shawn Ray with bigger arms) destroyed all comers!

Kai -- if he ever hits his conditioning again -- can challenge Heath.

Palumbo recommended Jay heal up, regroup, and then enter the Arnold Classic next year. Winning that would give him momentum and set up a great rivalry for next year's Mr. Olympia!

I don't believe he will retire. The arm will heal and he'll get peeled and go for another Sandow next year!

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking. You look at the guys of the late 70s/80s and Phil is similar in that his waste is not massive from too much GH and he has a very well defined lat spread. Jay's legs are more striated but his back and abs when not in flex are not super tight. I agree, Jay needs to cut down some and focus on getting some high quality, dense muscle as he has the shape just is too wide so his cuts don't come through as well as they could.

jay will not retire i do not think
his ego is too big to leave the game on the bottom. he will do same as after 08 which is go back and regain title. i know people think he tore his bicep, but in reality he messed up on site injection. if he tore his bi it would look much different and he would not be able to pose like that
