Female Compitors: Makeup Help

Hi ladies: I have a comp at the end of July. I started using mineral makeup in January, and I am never going back. I am usually pretty fair skinned. (Bisque in JI) But I will need to find the right color after tanning and protan, etc. Is the Pro tan a more warm color, or even further towards yellow.

I can mix and match with all the new colors that came out with at Aromaleigh

And sample sizes will probably be enough.

Boy I tell ya, I had no clue how to wear my mu last time, because I didn't look like me so dark. I didn't know the correct makeup application for dark skin. The rules are different then I am normally used to, to make the best of my features, with makeup. I didn't even have the right shade of blush, because it didn't even show up. Someone loaned me a bronzer for blush, and I will do that again.

TIA for any suggestions

Hey

Hmmm.. what color blush do you normally wear?

Dont use anything that is pink or blushy based.. they have some violet pigments in them, and they could end up looking like brusies.

I would go ahead and use a dark bronzer to "contour" your cheek bones. Mebbe invest in a basic pink or peach blush and apply a little bit.. no more than 2-3 dabs on your cheeks to add some color.

The best tip I can give to apply blush/bronzer is after you saturate the hairs with the powder.. tap the part of the brush right where the fibers connect against the edge of a hard surface lightly. this will shakeoff any excess pigment and will evenly distribute the product to that way you dont look cakey.

get a loose powder that is 2-3 shades lighter than your foundation color, and [i]lightly]/i] dust them on the parts of your cheeks that you want to bring forward (liekthe areas a little underneath your eyes) this will help you achieve that famous janet jackson smile

a good way to keep you lipstick in place is to start with naked lips. Apply petroleum jelly, or lip balm to moistureize your lips, then lightly cover your lips with foundation. .. with special care to the lip line.. you dont wanna leave any of that bare.

Now line your lips. Add lipstick. Blot. Add lipstick. Blot. add one more light coat of lipstick. Re line your lips. Take a high shiny gloss, or even a gloss that is shimmery/frosty and put a big dot of it in the center of your lips. press your lips together and try to blend it... not too much.. the gloss in the center will REALLY make your lips look full and pouty.

eyeshadow: I really like the M.A.C and NARS shadows. the pigment is true, and the powder is color dense.. you dont have to use a ton.

THe best thing to do is to put foundation all over your eyeslidsall the way up to the brow bone and even into the eyebrows themselves.

let it dry.

then lightly powder them with face powder.

Then, use your lightest shade of shadow (always use at least 2 colors/shades.. one dark one light) and do a light coat of it all over your whole upper eyelid... from the inside corner of your eye all the way up to the brow bone.

After that.. add a heavier coat of the light eyeshadow on the browbone under the arch of your eyebrows.

then contour your eye accordingly.

Like I said, MAC and NARS have really GOOD eyeshadows... NARS can be applied with a WET brush, and it dries to a powder. This makes application a BREEZE, and makes sure you have a heavy coat.

for brown eyes.. Purple and Pinkish brighten the eyes.. lighter eyed girls have it easy.. you can wear anything..

EYELINER & MASCARA:

for performances & shows, I liek to have my girls first do a light line of eyeliner with a pencil, and then go over it with a liquid liner. If you arent good with a liquid liner.. get a small brush and wet it and use a BLACK eyeshadow. It works just as good.

EYELASHES: Curl your eyelashes naked.

If you have blonde/light lashes.. purchase "Underwear" by Origins, or a clear mascara. Apply this first.

When applying mascara/under coat.. tilt your chin to the celing and look forward towards the mirror. Apply it this way, and let your eyelashes dry with your head in this position. it hels the curl last longer.

Do 2-3 coats of mascara. DO not pump the wand in the tube.. this introduces air, and causes your product to dry prematurely and get clumpy.

WHen applying yourmascara, wiggle your brush left to right as you slowly drag it across your lashes.. this gives thicker lashes with less clumps.

After each coat of mascara, let it dry completely, and curl after each coat.

TO open your eyes up more.. on the last couple of coats.. put extra mascara on the outer corners of the eye.

Now.. apply false eyelashes. Let the glue dry, and then curls your eyelashes into the false ones. Then apply one light coat of mascara..

this helps it look more natural, and and helps it stay the whole hight.

Once you are done.. do one last swipe of liquid liner over the base of your lashes.
