Competition Color

Which tanning creme is better for hitting the stage?

Jan Tana's Show Tan or ProTan?

Pro Tan gives you the best looking, long-lasting tan you can get. Show tan is too light and rubs off easy. Some people use Jan Tana Comp tan on top of show tan!

How bout a Jan Tana Comp Tan over Pro Tan?

Last comp I did Protan, but found I wasnt dark enough. Maybe I should apply earlier than 4 days.

Here is what works best...from personal experience as well as feedback from many competitors:

3 or 4 layers of PRO TAN - start application the morning prior to pre-judging

DREAM TAN morning of the show.....it has oil in it already so you don't even need oil. The Dream Tan is very dark but doesn't dry into your skin...hence the need for Pro Tan underneath it. If you apply the Dream Tan too early a lot of it will rub off onto your clotehs so wait until about an hour or so before you hit the stage to apply it.

Good luck

Searching for the right balance...

Thanks Fit Freak, but DG is right. NPC bans Dream Tan as well. I have heard it works great though. But las comp between all the rushing and changing my Protan got all over my suit, so I would be very afraid with the Dream Tan.

I did two applications per day x 4 days.

Maybe I should do three applications?

I appreciate your help

If you tan for a couple weeks before the comp it helps! Find a tanning bed somewhere.

I Agree with the last statement, but use a stand up tanning bed as to ensure you tan all areas of your body and not get the white underarms etc. Mystic or spray on Tanning beds are great two to three days prior to competition as well.

Thanks all. I have been tanning...enough to make me a wrinkly old lady soon

I am going for Protan as a base and topped off with Jan Tana

well i have a way different opinion and this is what i tell all my fitness girls. If you have olive skin tone then use Jan Tana Show Tan if you have a redish tone then use Pro Tan.

I tryed pro tan 2 times and i never got darker enough....now that i use show tan i get REALLY nice color.

So if you are using pro tan then do 4-5 coats then the morning of the show end off with Dream Tan to put on right before the show...it is a little tricker to put on but if you use your hands and do circular motions its great.

And if your using Show Tan then do 4-5 coats then the morning of the show use Jan Tana Bronzer over top to finish you off. This makes you look awesme. This is easier than the dream tan to put on, you kind put it on like you would body lotion.

TIPS that you may not know: use comet on your hands with a little scrub brush to get off any die from the palms of your hands. if you get any die on your clothes or suits, baby wipes take it right off.

Happy dying...cause as i type this i have 4 coats of Show Tan on and i have 2 bronzers to go.

....and thats my $.02
