    Critique my Website.

Alrighty...I am TRYING to get this silly website kinda designed and up for my suits. I'm needing honest opinions on how it is set up. This is only the temp. site. I have one on disc that I will be changing once I learn how to edit Frontpage 2000. I'm sooooooooooooo computer stupid when it comes to this stuff. Never did get my email set up to work with Outlook either. LOL But that will be taken care of soon too.

I'm needing honest opinions on the pricing of the suits, etc...Be mean. I can take it (I think...I'm not dieting and loaded with carbs so I should be alright. )

I like!! I'm going have to get a suit from you. I plan on doing my first show in Mid-April. They prices are average. But, I've also never bought a suit yet. But, from what I heard it sounds like a great deal! I can't wait to see when your done.

Okay just one question... Who's that hot momma on the home page??? I think it looks real good so far. Easy to find the links at the top. Will you be able to click on the suit to enlarge the pic? That was the only thing I could think of. It looks nice though.

Site looks good. Very feminine "flavor" to it.

Have you considered setting up an "online shopping cart" vs. the static order forms? There are several low-cost (and sometimes free) secure "shopping cart" providers out there that will provide you with all the necessary tools to process credit cards for a mere few pennies-per-sale. (Check out Paypal.com merchant accounts - free and very easy to set up) Just a suggestion but you may be able to drum up some additional business with that feature available. People are more apt to buy if they can get it right there-and-then.

Your suits look great. You look great! Your site has a very distinct and elegant appearance that will certainly catch the eye of your prospective clients. I wish you luck in your endeavor.

Remember Jodi we already have that worked out for you and Brit.

Even with adding in the cost for material they are ok? That is where I am not sure about. I just don't want to price myself to high ya know?

    Liz...I'll ck on the thumbnails.

I do plan to add a shopping cart, they have that feature on the hosting site. Just haven't gotten that far just yet. I'm still trying to figure out the basic stuff. Its trial and error with this design stuff for me.

Brit....I'll have fabrics up soon (hopefully by tomorrow). You'll have to ck it out in case you change your mind.

Ok...design me a button of the bottom of a swimsuit from the rear or a torso of a figure chick, that can be used as the links buttons.

Aww..thank you Bone..You know they added a show over in Austin this coming year and one in SA. Gotta decide soon what I'm going to do.

It's a short drive for yu JLB. When plazma TV's first came out I was charging $600 to $1500 to hang and configure them into a person's home theater system. I made many trips to Houston, worked a 6 to 10 hour day and drove back home.

Which ever direction you chose you will do well!!!

I'll see what I can do on that link thing.

OK, you asked for it so:

For doing it yourself, it looks great!

If your going to try and have it show on the search engines, it is not so great.

The code sitebuilder produces is horrible and will not validate. Some people say that it is not important but I've got several sites in areas that are competing at over $12.00 per click for the word and they show up #1 in the free search against some very big players. All things equal, the difference are my sites validate which makes it easier for the spiders to follow and index.

If your going to make a go of it, you should invest in a WYSWIG editor such as Dreamweaver. It is very easy to use and the newest version produces code that validates across browsers. If anyone in your house is going to school, you can get an Academic version of Dreamweaver for less that $100.00.

The only way you will get traffic to it now is either by word of mouth, advertising or do the pay per click thing which can get expensive.

Again, for doing it yourself you have done a great job!!!!

I guess I'm more harsh than others since I build and optimize sites for a living and have done so for the last 5 years, but you asked for an honest opinion so you got it.

    Good luck!!!

Thank you for your opinion...but can you explain all that to me in girl terms? I have no clue what all that means.

word of mouth is good for now, since I am just beginning and not wanting to get overload all at once. Its just me sew the suits with a fulltime job and competiting as well.

Is Dreamweaver like Frontpage 2000? If this thing gets too out of control...PM me what you would charge to set it up and do upkeep.

    Hi JLB!

Basically, it means your site needs work if you want it to be found. If all your going to do is promote it by word of mouth, then the site will work for you.

If however, you want to try and show up in Google when people type in say "posing suite" then your site probably won't show up. I haven't checked on how competitive terms for that industry are but if it is not that competive, then with a little work, you could get to the top with no problem.

Dreamweaver is kind of like Frontpage only 1000% better. There is a bit of a learning curve to it but once you have it down, it is one of the best out there next to hand writing the code yourself.

I appreciate you asking for pricing but I must confess I come to this board to get away from the Web stuff and in fact am so busy now I couldn't take on any more projects. I've already put my wife to work helping me and training her is taking it's toll on my sanity

I'd be more than happy to give you a few pointers on what you could do to get your site to show up in the engines if you want me to. If so, PM me and ask real nice

    Hey,

From a professional perspective its not very good.
Color and imagery is not constant.
Example, this is a site with selling suits. You are on the home page but the picture on the left is a flower arrangement looking like a wedding shop.

The product pictures could have been done much better, you should have shot them with a solid background Instead of infront of a door.

The home page does not have a focal point nor any call to action.
I have to scroll to see your pictures (Nice by the way).
You are using valuble screen realestate on the flower picture that does not serve any purpose.

Your action items (in this case the links to level 2 pages) is on the top so when you scroll down the page to look at your pictures you do not see them anymore.

The previous poster is right. Get rid of Frontpage, its horrible.
    The code is soooooo bad.

    Call me.
I own one of Houstons leading web development companies and we are located just down the street from you. Craig should have my card, if not find me in the gym. I can help with shopping cart, merchant accounts, etc.

    P.S.
I commend you on your effort, its much harder to develop web sites then most people realize. I can't design to save my life but I have some of the best developers in Texas.

LOL. I know exactly who you are. I haven't been making it to the gym in the mornings lately, but that will be starting back soon.

I just used the templates that the hosting service provided, haven't done much other than throw it together. I'm not wanting a site with lots of scrolling and flashing, I think it takes forever to load that way. I like the simple things when it comes to a website.

If your not busy this week I'll try to give you a call (I know Christmas is a crazy time). I'll get your card from Craig.

PS...Nice to see your not lurking anymore, you should post more often.

Oh, and that's a smokin' pic of you....I love the suit YOU are wearing in it!

Let's not forget - showing the suits encasing a fine looking woman such as yourself is much better for sales than showing them sort of floating in space.
