    I need some honest opinions...

These are pics of the 1st (right side) and second (left side) place heavy weight winners for 2004's pro gym cup. Its a FCPAQ comp. aimed at first time competitors and while it used to take place in the spring, its now moved to November for 2005 and I am considering entering it. I would be doing this for the experience, but I do not want to look like a fool either! So I guess, my question is this, considering that Ive just finished a bulk/cycle and will be beginning a rigourous cut soon, do you guys think that this comp. is a realistic goal for me or should I focus on another year of training before considering competition?
I probably look like a total dweeb for asking this, but Im willing to risk a good ol' flaming!lol

    thanx in advance guys!

My bf is currently at 16% after about 6 months of bulking. Which technicaly implies that I can afford to lose about 20 pounds of fat...avi pic is not so recent...

Very do-able Crazy. If you come in 165 to 167, you steal the show!

gotta just do (du) it. The first show is the hardest but it will set you up and better prepare you for shows to come. Just set the goal and set up a time line of where you want to be and when. good luck.

Yes, I think you will do very well. That's is very impressive. How tall are you? If you have your posing down I think you will place top 3 easily.

Oh, boy, I somehow didnt expect such positive responses...It would my first time doing such a cut and I kinda have a hard time picturing myself up to par...Im (just a tad!!) overly critical towards myself. I guess I thought I might be at a disadvantage because of my size, those girls are like 140# max (together, in a soaking wet pouch, with rocks in their pockets...Theyre so small!!lol)!

Thanx to everybody for the compliments btw!

Ya, I know it seems like I have lots of time ahead of me, but I do have surgery scheduled for june 10th and have to plan 8-10 weeks (perhaps 12 according to my doc) recovery time during which Ill have to refrain from lifting!! That takes me to mid-late august before I can get back into training full throttle.

So now Im wondering, am I better off doing a very slow cut, reaching a caloric level thats just slightly below my maintenance to shed as much fat as possible until June,(as I have a feeling that while sitting on my ass for 2 months recovery, I may gain a little fat) or do I stay at maintenance or a tad above and try to pack on a little more mass in case I end up loosing some while I cant train???

Well, if you are talking lipo to the stomach and thigh area, plan on a minimum of 6 weeks before you can do much at all. You must allow the swelling to go down and the skin to "reattach" itself to the sub layers. If you push it you will not be tight. After 6 weeks you can start to do moderate cardio but I wouldnt do any strenght training till 12 weeks. Did you get a "garment" to wear after the surgery?
THAT WHICH DOES NOT KILL ME, CERTAINLY MUST MAKE ME STRONGER

Well, a little lipo, but mostly removal of excess skin (not sure of the exact english term for it), I will need to wear garments and was told to plan from 8-10 weeks(up to 12) for recovery...thats why I wonder what to do now..Do I start a mellow cut as I fear gaining fat during recovery or do I stay on a "light bulk" with cals just above maintenance to avoid lbm loss during that same time!!?? Im really torn and need advice!

And Im not planning on doing much cardio until the very end of my cut...
