Bodybuilding in my opinion is as rigged as wrestling, it's all a popularity contest.

Although I am not sure but wasn't Flex a more popular guy?

I think he was. And, then, that would disprove your theory, wouldn't it?

Wow - that vid ending was really bad. The thing that struck me with the difference in shape and proportion of their chest/shoulders.

yea, that was an upset. Teh other controversial one was when I thought Jazy beat ronnie (what was that 2000?). Do you have a video clip of that one? Jay looked better then ronnie did.

flex is a lazy mofo....but not as lazy as chris cormier.

Guys get screwed over in judging all the time if tyhey don't get on or aren't popular with crowds and judges which is a shame and petty. All politics between judges, sponsors and competitors unfortunately. Flex definately looked the better of the two, so sleek and huge compared to Ronnies pudding potato sack mid section. Although Ronnie has a vastly greater chest width and larger quads, i still think flexs athlectic blend with mass will always get my vote over Ronnies stump mass.

this is true, flex got dropped like a sack of spuds by weider after the car crash in 94, after that he pretty much got ruled out of having an olympia win, obviously weider calls the shots when it comes to who wins

its sad, flex made an amazing comeback and blatently beat ronnie that year but was robbed, flex was pissed off (no suprises there!) but you really can't blame him!

I don't know myself but I read a lot about it in magazines and in forums, but my definition of lazy would be a fat slob who does nothing but eat bon bons all day.....I mean they had to do something to get there....no?

    Yeah, that's right.

I mean even if you have good genetics, you have to work friggen hard to look like he did. I wouldn't call anyone who had to diet to his bf% lazy. Maybe his lazyness is relative to the bb-ing world.

I don't think he is lazy in general terms, and hell I don't care if he's lazy or not, the dude was incredible. I think its possibly a blend of commitment and discipline issues as well as laziness with Flex. APPARENTLY (don't want to slate the guy, he and Victor are my favourite BBs), he would party too much and neglect his diet and preparation etc or something. Not really a hanging offense, just probably not the typical lifestyle trend of a pro bb. However, as I previously mentioned, he could afford to be alittle lazy with the genetics he had covering for him and producing an amazing physique, yet as you guys said, he (as well as most bb, gear or not) it would of also taken tons of hard work to shape up like that. I still think its politics that lost him contests rather than his laziness. Pity he had to retire.

Weider has got so much influence? Si if it is, i think that's awful for bodybuilding. It's worst that doping. Isn't it? But ronnie is great. The video shows two direction: Biggest or Symetry. Ronnie is the biggest and Flex has got a good symetry but the next generation had for leitmotiv "big is beautiful" so Ronnie had to win. I think in couple of year we'll see some of bodybuilders of 25 years who weight 300 pounds thanks to genetics. Lol. Look out, genetic manipulation has got future in bodybuilding. So we must be in the end of traditional professionnal bodybuilding. Ronnie is the symbol of a new generation and wheeler the end of the precedent. Sorry for the english i'm french speaking.

Flex looked more professional in that vid too. Ronnie was rocking back and forth, unflexed like a chump. His proportions are all crappy too. idk, w/e

Ronnie looked a bit more symetric. His delts were lacking, but his legs looked better. The pacing is just a nevous habit. I do it all the time. Even when I'm just standing their.

I know, but ronnie just bugs the crap out of me. I dont think he looked good, at all. He wasnt flexed, he just kind of stood there. His pecs were way out of proportion. You couldnt tell how his legs looked by the video, they just kind of looked like leg shaped water balloons, he rarely flexed them, etc.
