The official competitor list has been released for the New York Pro, which will be held on Saturday, May 12 at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. The men’s prejudging is slated to begin at 2 p.m. while the evening finals are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Both the prejudging and the finals will be available via webcast at flexonline.com and bodybuilding.com.
There will be five Olympia qualifying slots up for grabs in New York. The frontrunners for those spots appear to be Dennis James, Branch Warren and Dennis Wolf. James –- who finished third at last year’s New York Pro, behind winner Phil Heath and runner-up Darrem Charles –- is competing for the first time since undergoing hernia surgery in December.
Two rookies -- Desmond Miller and Leo Ingram –- will be making their professional debuts. Miller earned his pro card by winning the Super Heavyweight and Overall titles at the 2006 NPC Nationals while Ingram earned his by winning the Super Heavyweight and Overall at the 2006 North American Championships. Vince Taylor, who has already qualified for the Olympia by placing third at the Australian Grand Prix, Brian Chamberlain and Ahmad Haidar are among some of the other competitors with the potential to crack the top five.
Tune in to flexonlnine.com or bodybuilding.com for the live webcast of the New York Pro on May 12, starting at 2 p.m.
