Bludevils Replenish Log

BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS
High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com
Received my tub of Replenish today. Regretably, today is an off day for training so tomorrow will be the start.

For those of you who don't know what Replenish is, here's a quick recap -

http://www.designersupps.com/product.../replenish.pdf

replenish_nutrition.gif

I will be reviewing Replenish on the following 6 criteria:

1. Taste -
2. Mixability -
3. Texture -
4. Filling -
5. Recovery -
6. Muscle Fullness -

While today is an off day, I couldn't help myself in sampling the taste. Just a little history on myself, my PWO shake consists of Choc. Whey Protein, 1.5 scoops of whole oats and BCAA's. That's it, nothing fancy but it works for me. To say the least, I'm extremely happy to have a shake that has a fruity flavor just for a change. Replenish is watermelon flavored. While I didn't fix a shake, I did wet and dip my finger to taste. I was pleased with the taste as it was not overly fruity and while it had a little aftertaste (not bad at all), it was quite pleasant.

So far so good. Also, I would like to thank DS for giving me this opportunity to test out a solid looking product.

Ok, on to more important stuff, what my intitial thought of Replenish was
On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being awful, 10 being wonerful)
Taste - 8 (I liked the taste but it did have a slight artificial flavor. Nothing overpowering but it was there. Overall though, it was pleasant to drink and a welcomed change from regular Choc Protein flavor.

Mixibility - 7 (I used a shaker cup. While their were no visible clumps and product seemed to mix rather easily, their was considerable foaminess. Found that sipping and gradually adding more water took care of this issue).

Texture - 10 (Texture was very nice given oat fiber is present, so some grittiness was to be expected. A lot better than the whole oats I'm used to consuming in my regular PWO shake).

Filling - 8 (Rather filling although I think a lot of it came from the amount of water needed to consume beverage, for me it was 24oz for desired taste.)

Recovery - N/A (I'm putting N/A here for the 1st day because I'm basing this criteria on how I feel tomorrow regarding DOMS, energy, drive in the gym, etc..)

Muscle Fullness - 5 (I'm just going to put a 5 for right now meaning average. It's hard to say if my muscles are more full or not just after 1 dose. I'm not going to much emphasis on this criteria until after 5 to 7 days.)

nice, as with any isolate shaking is just asking for a foam bomb.

Yeah, I'm going to incorporate some simethicone drops before shaking tomorrow to see if that helps.

Nice. Finally! Glad you like it so far. Yep, it does get a little foamy if you shake it. I find putting a few ice cubes in the shaker keeps the foaming to a minimum as well.

Today's workout consisted of the following
Front Squat - 4 sets of 5-7 reps
BB Row - 4 sets of 5-7 reps

Bench Press - 4 sets of 5-7 reps
Good Morning - 4 sets of 5-7 reps

Chin Ups - 4 sets of 5-7 reps
DB Push Press - 4 sets of 5-7 reps

Today's workout was very solid, extremely pleased.

Interesting side notes - I just finished an NHA cycle last week. I experienced nice strength gains while on cycle, but strength is still increasing this week. All exercise poundages went up today.
Also, my 2 year old son had his tonsils and adenoids removed 2 weeks ago and hasn't slept for more that 2 consecutive hours since the surgery. Last night he FINALLY slept through the night and I must say I felt like a new man this morning with 7 solid hours of sleep under my belt.

Taste - 8 (I added more water than yesterday and it seemed to decrease the slight artificial flavor. Very solid flavoring scheme as I've taken some of the ingredients in bulk and know they have a nasty taste.)

Mixibility - 7 (Will probably bump this up in my final review as I've found with the addition of 4 simethicone drops before shaking, results in no foam. Also, no clumps were present).

Texture - 10 (This will pretty much stay the same from here on out).

Filling - 8

Recovery - 9 (While I don't know if I felt like a new man in the gym because of the sleep or Replenish, their was a noticable decrease in RI's between exercises and energy was present throughout w/o.)

Muscle Fullness - 5 (I'm just going to put a 5 for right now meaning average. It's hard to say if my muscles are more full or not just after 1 dose. I'm not going to much emphasis on this criteria until after 5 to 7 days.)

Are you taking measurements at all? I think it would be interesting to see if the postworkout goodies in Replenish are helping you put on mass.

Ahhh, good question, just thought about that last night so I weighed myself this morning at 192.5. I will be getting BF% taken today and specific bodypart measurements this weekend. I'm fascinated as well as I stated earlier, I'm coming off the NHA stack so it will be interesting to see if my %'s decrease/baseline/increase using Replenish.

Training = competitive basketball

Things I noticed today, while everyone was running at full speed at the start of the game, by the end of the game I seemed to be the only that still had anything left in the tank. This was nice as I got a lot of easy fast break points. While I consider myself in decent cardio shape, I seemed to have more endurance than normal. The only thing different from today than any other day was the consumption of Replenish 45 minutes before the game. I believe the addition of Citulline Malate, CEE and Recovery Matrix (BCAA's) helped in this regard.

I'm going to hold off on commenting on the 6 criteria I'm using to judge Replenish until my final review. This will help in reducing repetiveness of each post.

Also, haven't made it to my gym yet to take bf% measurements but will get those shortly.

2/12

Came down with a cold over the weekend. I usually take a week off of training when I'm sick so my immune system can recover but I'm going to take a little different route this time. I'm going to incorporate a deloading phase this week. I will be doing the same routine, sets, reps, etc... but with 50% of the load. I'll judge by mid-week how I'm feeling and either continue with this protocol or drop it until I feel better.

Training - Like I stated earlier, don't feel 100% so energy, aggression, motivation all down right now. I flew through the w/o given the decrease in weight, so w/o was nice and easy. Did a short 10 minute stroll on tready afterwards. Hopefully the cold won't last long so I can get back to normal schedule.

Other Notes - BF% - 13.3

Left measurements at home, so I will be posting those tonight.

My bf would probably have been lower but I pigged out this weekend. I'm usually pretty stict on my diet but for some reason I gave in to my urges and had a gorge fest. Let's see, I had pizza, ice cream, doritoes, fried shrimp, french fries, other assorted chips and dips. The good thing was I had my fill. Sunday was back to normal and I now have new motivation to stay on track.

2/14 - Not a lot to report today. I think playing bball last night wreaked havoc on my immune system as the cold is really kicking my butt right now. In that regard, I decided not to lift today. I did however, go sit in the sauna for 30 minutes to try and sweat out some mucus. If I feel better tomorrow, I will resume with training.

2/16 - Nothing new to report on my end. Still feeling under the weather, but managing to do some cardio just to stay semi-active. Hopefully I'll kick this over the weekend and lifting will resume on Monday.

2/19 - Well, I'm back to 90% so I decided to lift again today. I didn't go 100% all out, but probably around 75%. So not to bad. Felt good to lift again as it's been a week.

As far as Replenish goes, nothing really new to report as I haven't taken any in a week as I only take it when I lift. So far though, it seems like a solid PWO shake but I'll keep you posted with my progress and thoughts.

Glad you're feeling better, Blue. It seems like this winter has been heck on lots of people for illness.

How'd it go with adding the semethicone drops work for the foaming?

Thanks WBM. Simethicone drops was just what the dr. ordered regarding foam, no foaming what so ever. Just for a side note for anyone else, you have to add the drops before shaking to negate foaming.

For update on training, didn't lift yesterday, but had a really intense bball game. It was our closest game of the year so far but we pulled it out in the last few minutes. So far we're undefeated.

Lifted today, finally back to 100%. Workout was intense as I felt a little guilty for missing the gym so much the past week. Pleasantly surprised as strength was on par before sickness. No decrease in weights at all. Short on time so I did a bunch of supersets using full body exercises which attributed to workout intensity. Overall, really pleased with workout.

2/22 - Had another excellent w/o this morning. My day is going to be pretty hectic so I decided to get a morning w/o in. Man, I forgot how much I liked working out in the morning, as it makes the rest of the day seem so much better. I feel like my neurons are firing at a higher rate, thinking is more clearly, and work production is greater (I'm in IT by the way).

Workout was another short but sweet session with supersets and low RI's.
Workout went as follows -
3 sets of 7 for all exercises
Weighted Pullups / Standing DB Tri extension
Incline DB Press / Standing DB Curl
Military Press / Calf raises

I'm limited on lower body exercises right now as I have a pulled groin muscle that I've seem to reaggravate. I guess all the running and jumping from bball has reinjured it. Along with that, I've got another game tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Also, supposed to go skiing over the weekend, leaving tonight after the game. My wife's been sick though, so she's going to make the call if she feels up to it or not. If so, I want have any updates until Monday. If not, I'll see you guys tomorrow.

Looking good Blu, I'm interested to see what your final analysis of Replenish is, I'd be interested in trying it. Right now I'm taking Surge from Biotest. Nice to see you back!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

2/26 - Well got some good and bad news. Decided to go skiing this weekend. Kids had a blast tubing as well. It was a great trip but I returned with another frigg'n cold. Just got over one last week. Well, I again will asses each day if I'll train by how I feel until cold is gone. Today I'm going to hit the gym for a light workout (although I feel like crap) in large part because of guilt. I had an absolute gorge fest this weekend. Diet went completely out the window.

W/O will be the same routine, sets, reps, etc... but with 50% of the load.

Also would like to add, I was thinking over the weekend how my strength usually decreases slightly after I've been sick but from my last sickness (last week), when I returned to lifting my strength didn't decline at all. I didn't really think about it at the time, but I must attibute some of this to Replenish for it's recomp effects. Like I stated earlier, on all previous sickness my strength always decreased slightly but this time it didn't decline at all and nothing else has changed, so Replenish must be doing it's job in the recoup realm.

yeah and for some reason, this cold is worse than the first. I'm starting to think it's a sinus infection. I work for a pharma company so I began taking antibiotics just in case. If it is an infection then it should be cleared in a few days. If not, then I guess have about 5 - 7 more days of feeling like crap. On that note, their will be no lifting today. I do have a bball game tonight but don't know if I'll play or not. I will probably sit during the game and only play if I'm needed.

3/07 - Sorry for the lack of updates. My computer crashed and I didn't really see a need to tell you guys I was still under the weather and no lifting. Well, I think I'm finally over the hump with my last bug and feeling alot better. I'm extremely busy at work so I don't know if I'm going to get train today or not. If so, it will be a quick session. If memory serves me correctly, I've only lifted seriously twice in the last 2/3 weeks. Not good at all. Hoping all of that turns around this week.
